Yes, to everything you wrote. Even if he isn’t the one...Their is one just like him waiting in the wings. It’s been foretold in the most amazing Word that has never been proven wrong. Check out Ezekial 38-39. That is the future. Hard to imagine in these times that it is far away.

What about all those Y2K predictions that John Hogue claimed Nostradomus made. Zero came true. Not even one by accident.

Great bedtime reading. Can’t wait to get the book. By the way I think you got the picture correctly portrayed.

A big old AMEN on Ezekiel. IMHO, for the first time in history, WOGAM (War of Gog and Magog) is IMMEDIATELY feasible. One potential scenario is that Israel, understanding full well that Iran will launch against her when capable, strikes first to take our Iran’s nuke capability. In today’s world, it would not be a stretch AT ALL to see the world turn completely on Israel, not a stretch to see Russia lead hordes of angry Muslims in an invasion of Israel.

While the above scenario was technically possible before now, only now does the realistic possibility exist that the USA will abandon Israel and leave her (seemingly:-) standing alone against the world. All of it is now oh so feasible. Right now.

MM

Re boxcars and royalty: Nostradamus did not know concepts that were still to come. For example, he would not understand the concept of a presidency of a republic. He used the most apt descriptions he could. There were no "hollow mountains," either--then or now--but these have been read as skyscrapers.

About all of this, of course, it's anyone's guess.

“About all of this, of course, it’s anyone’s guess.”

Yeah, kind of easy to interpret his writings when you are looking for references to events that have already happened. Then you can match what he says to the event.

Didn’t Nostro predict 6 out of the last 3 recessions, or am I thinking of someone else?

About all of this, of course, it's anyone's guess.

Which is why it is silly to claim that Nostradamus was someone with some sort of foresight. A real prediction would be unambiguous and unmistakable in nature, i.e., something written prior to 9/11 which stated exactly what happened that day at that time.

I meant that the particular interpretation can sometimes be anyone's guess, given the problems of translation and the fact that Nostradamus was not the best writer in the world. Forcing them into rhyming quatrains also created some distortion.

Even the Bible prophecies do not meet your exacting criteria.

I believe God gives the power of prophecy to some individuals, outside of Biblical revelation, when they intend to use it for good.

What you say doesn’t make any sense. How else could you test someone’s predictions?

“What you say doesn’t make any sense. How else could you test someone’s predictions?”

By using their prediction to actually predict an event that hasn't happened. In other words, if someone predicts (before Sept 11, 2001) terrorists will strike a significant target in New York sometime in late 2001, hitting targets with aircraft and causing significant death and destruction. If I write a bunch of vague things with no timeline and with no specifics I can always go back after some major event and claim my writings predicted it. It makes it easy to find any event in the world and claim my predictions were true. It's how most people who claim to be clairvoyant make their predictions.

Ok, read Nostradamus and find something he is predicting that is GOING to happen, not something that has already happened. No one has yet to do it. We simply match one of his quatrains to an event from the recent past.

VI, 41:

The second chief of the realm of Annemark,
Through those of Frisia & of the British Isle,
Will spend more than one hundred thousand marks,
Exploiting in vain the voyage to Italy.

II, 96:

http://www.nostradamusquatrains.com/Century2/Quatrain96.htm

A burning torch will be seen in the sky at night
near the end and source of the Rhone.
Famine and weapon; help provided too late,
Persia will turn and invade Macedonia.

II, 3:

http://www.nostradamusquatrains.com/Century2/Quatrain3.htm

Because of heat like that of the sun upon the sea,
the fish around Negrepont will become half cooked.
The local people will eat them
when in Rhodes and Genoa there is a lack of food.

http://www.nostradamusquatrains.com/Century2/Quatrain4.htm

From Monaco as far as Sicily
all the coast will remain deserted.
There will be no suburbs, cities nor town
which have not been pillaged and robbed by barbarians.

Somebody mentioned Nostro doing research into ancient Mayan civilization...um, correct me if I’m wrong, but the America’s where only discovered in 1421/1492 (depending on the China/Columbus belief)...Nostro lived from 1503-1566!

So how much documentation and research material were really available to Nostro (only roughly 100 years after North American discovery) considering the Chinese/Italians were probably struggling just to stay alive much less write in-depth psych studies on the Mayan for future review by middle-class Frenchmen?

Sounds cheese-ball to me and completely unbelievable that Nostro studied anything Mayan of real depth - especially a Mayan prediction that I’m sure held religious status and thus was closer guarded than - say - what was on the daily dinner menu. BS to that comment!
