Rats. I hit post too quickly. I should have also pointed to the Hebrews at the Red Sea as a Scriptural example.

God could have taken them directly to the promised land, but the stop there with the Red Sea ahead and the Egyptians closing in was for their benefit.

Those who relied on sensory perception and reasoning were panicky. Those who relied on God were not.

Ditto for Caleb, David, Daniel, etc.

Ah! "Situational awareness"... Actually, (although I note that I did use the term, "situation") I was thinking more of situations where the scientific evidence (as I interpreted it at the time) seemed to contradict God's word. Never, in that case, have I seen it proved that God was wrong-- about anything in His Creation...

Glad I was led to "play straight man" for your most excellent testimony!

OTOH, like you, that "still, small voice" has never led me wrong when faced with an apparently hopeless situation...

(I recall fondly the time when, as a young married couple, we had a single dime left -- and we kept it in a 35mm film can -- so we could rattle it and 'prove' to ourselves that we weren't "totally broke". Then, as we followed His counsel to patience, the blessings started pouring in...)
