It is hard to be positive these days.
Every time you open a newspaper (people still do that, right?) or turn on the TV, it seems as if the world is imploding. Prophets of gloom and doom abound, lashing out at American excess and predicting the decline of its power and prestige.
How can one not be pessimistic?
Externally, we face threats that just keep piling up. As Defense Secretary Bob Gates told columnist George Will, what makes this era of threats different from threats and crises of other eras is that today they "come up on the table and don't go off." Previously, he said, they seemed to "have a beginning and an end."

And in a little less than a month, a zero is going to lead this once great Republic. God help us.
Yeah, well, we used to not give a damn what the world thought and acted in our own interests. These days, we are worried about offending ANYONE! How can you have an "end" when appeasement is on the table???
....have been screwing things up for 1400 years.
Have no fear....... Captain Obama is here.
America's first duty should be to herself. The time has come to (Ctrl+Alt+Delete) and reboot. Secure our borders, cancel all foreign debts, harvest our resources, restation all our armed forces on the homeland and sovereign seas, skip a generation of military technology, withdraw from the UN, abandon NATO, void all foreign aid, massively stimulate our infrastructure and industry, replace the torch on the Statue of Liberty with the international sign for F-You, dare anyone in the world to mess with us; and if they do - completely and totally obliterate them.
I agree. Finish Iraq. Finish Afghanistan. Secure the Borders. Review all Foreign Aid. Be very generous to our friends. Be polite and respectful but distant from everyone else. Keep the shipping lanes for our products and oil only, open. Do a moon project for energy independence. End welfare (corporate and personal). Cut income taxes to less than 20% of income for everyone (including state and federal). Push education. Push innovation. Push self-sufficiency. Strictly monitor imigration. Take care of Americans.
