“Not only does Klaatu realize we can change at the end, he also makes sure we do it 1700s pre Indusrial Revolution style....”

Where are the parents of all these ignorant earth-worshiping children? They certainly should take away their cars, iPhones, iPods, and everything else beside the bare nutrition and clothing and shelter that was the norm in the 1700s. Let’s see how happy these spoiled enviro-nazis would be, as they learn that when one lives off the land, one realizes that Mother Nature can be a real bitch. Just ask any kid whose father was a farmer...

[Where are the parents of all these ignorant earth-worshiping children?]

I would guess they are pro earth worship or just plain ignorant new age liberals.

Forget the electronics. I’d like to see one of these outdoor naturalists go without Gore-Tex in their clothes.

Two stories.
1) Back in the '60s there was a group of anti-machine wackos who collected money and bought a brand new car. They then dug a huge hole and buried the car in an act of rebellion against the mechanical age. The photo showed them all standing around the car in the hole carrying all the usual signs. Perhaps/perhaps not the photographer was making a subtle point, but in the picture, off to one side, was the bulldozer the kids used to dig the hole.
2) I worked with an anti-nuke, no-blood-for-oil enviro. She told with with great pride how she attended a rally that blocked the entrance to a refinery. I asked her how she got there. "A bunch of us drove there." I told her I'd have a lot more respect for her if she had walked there and saved the gas. "Are you crazy?" she asked, "That place was over 20 miles away!" She failed to see the disconnect. And yeah, she was a Democrat.
