actually diet coke can make you fatter as it has no calories and can trick the body into thinking its starving, which increases hunger.

What's the next food or drink that's gonna be slapped with the "Obesity Tax"?

It's the start of a long slippery slope.

If I was a soda manufacturer I’d be going nuts. Why should soda be singled out over any other junk food? Cappuccino anyone? Friggin’ nannies.

You’re spot on.
This is a wonderful opportunity for money grubbing pols to cash in with a whole new category of taxes - all in the name of “health”.

A per-tooth tax would unfairly favor us country folk.

Except my observations have shown that is usually FAT people drinking diet colas.

And, some basis to that, since some studies have shown the artificial sweeteners SLOW a body’s metabolism.

But, Bring it on, I LOVE NANNYISM.

Social engineering via a tax on soda seems pointless as fatties will just seek out another sugary treat. Why not tax the obese themselves and make them pay for their healthcare burden, not to mention offending the beautiful people’s sensibilities? We could do it by the pound. Public weighings for Hillary and Jerry Nadler!

They'll figure that out in 6 months when they need to apply the tax to diet sodas to make it "fair".
