it's ugly as sin, though.
Now I frankly take gun tests in these magazines with a bit of skepticism but I think this one was probably accurate.
It was accurate, apparently not suffering from the long chambers in .45LC. The .410 shotshells were also effective, especially the triple ought buckshot load.
I personally think it is ugly and will not normally but a gun that I don't like the looks of, but it does sound like a good one.
I own one. Agree that it is a good, close quarter remedy to an immediate threat. She spreads out pretty quick. Not for walking around carry. Mine sits on the nightstand when I’m home and close at hand while in the vehicle.
You won’t spend an afternoon shooting it, either....
;-)
Pro: you can use it against snakes more effectively than snakeshot out of any other revolver
Con: I read one review that said using semi-wadcutters was not easy because of the gap between the ramp and the end of the bullet is like an inch and it doesnt feed into the barrel as easily as a roundnosed round would.

And good luck finding any non-slug shotgun shells other than skeet rounds in 2 1/2 inch 410 shot shells.
Taurus Judge ping
For defense, I have trouble seeing how you can beat it. Just go out and get a lot of practice so you aren’t caught off guard by the mule kicking your hand.
If you are looking for something to just shoot for enjoyment, look elsewhere.
I have a 2 inch barrel 38, 7 1/2 inch 44 and have “The Judge” on my Christmas List. I prefer the shorter non magnum 410/45 version to reduce recoil.
They are very nice but its a large revolver.
I looked at 2 last week.
I would shy away from the titanium one, I bet it kicks kicks a mule!
The shorter the barrel the tighter the shot column will be.
The longer the faster it the shot column will widen.
There is a solution to our fight, find a range where you can test one and fire off as much as they will let you. If you aren’t comfortable it, no matter how impressive its specs, it isn’t useful to you.
I like mine and so does my wife.
Get a few soon! These guns will be illegal soon. (imho)
Taurus is the Chevy Cavalier of guns.
It’s not really a magnum. It’s a Colt .45, or some say .45 Long Colt. Cartridge like the cowboys used in the wild West. Big hunk of lead, kicks like a mule, but rubber grips help. You can also used 2 1/2 inch 20 gauge shotgun shells. Love mine. Remember most gun fights take place at 5-10 feet; don’t have to be a marksman to hit the target (man) that’ll stop anybody for a pause, then if you loaded every other chamber with .45 Long Colt rounds you can send them to meet Jesus. Wish I had one of these back when I was a cop. CAUTION: Don’t confuse .45 Long Colt with .45 ACP rounds!
They are weird and scary and multi-purpose enough to appreciate in value from this point on. A hand-fired shotgun that can also fire 45 LC has nothing if not novelty value.
I read a post on either thefiringline.com or thehighroad.org a day or two ago by someone whose Judge’s barrel broke off the first time he fired it. Defects happen from time to time with all companies, but Taurus seems to have more than their share. I own two Taurus revolvers—one is fine, the other is a problem.
You can buy a 12 gauge shotgun and a decent revolver for the same price.
It seems like it’s a fun toy as a camp gun but I don’t think it’s worth buying.
Check out the pistol forums where actual users discuss the pros and cons. Ignore the sales hype reviews. Most who have tried it give it mediocre reviews and some say they were trading it back in. Of course it is better than having no gun at all. if you do get one, try to get the 3” version since it holds a lot more shot pellets.
Lots of really good input...thanks.
Think I’ll just stick with my SP-101 for now.
