And by the way, was it NOT open primaries where the liberals and supposed independents selected lord McCain as the GOP nominee and then failed to show up in November. McCain has a history in the senate that does NOT qualify him for hero status, that is unless it is a liberal bestowing that credit.
Yup.
You got that right! Now there’s talk of him working with the Democrats in the new white house. This is news John Boy working with the Democrats? He conspired with Huck the braying praying ass of Arkansas for him to remain in the race and drive out Mitt, enemy number one to the snake handlers that would be perfectly happy to bring back the Salem witch trials.
Sarah Palin did more for McCain than his paid staff and she did it in spite of them.
You hit it head on. I look back now and wonder if McCain could even handle the presidency. I seriously doubt it, we had two men running that had no business running. As Rush said one day, “Is this the best we could come up with in a country with 300,000,000 people?” I agree.
>>>>>McCain lost primarily because he didn’t go there and show Mr. Obama for what he is. All this talk of fairnes<<<<<
We all knew that about McCain a very long time ago. But he ran a successful divide and conquer primary with the help of the Elmer Gantry Huckster supporters.
A VP candidate isn’t going to win or lose the presidential campaign for the candidate. Look at Biden.
McCain and the conservatives lost for many reasons. First was the huge money differential between the two campaigns. McCain’s camp had no money, was playing by the McCain/Feingold rules....their 50 state strategy was paultry compared to Obama’s.
McCain would not go for the jugular. The Rev. White issue should have sunk Obama. McCain seemed embarrassed for Obama rather than alarmed that he would listen to that “crazy talk”.
The bailout. McCain voted for it. HUGE mistake.
Palin came late to the scene. For all her “faults”, she brought an energy that only helped his campaign.
Add voter fraud, early voting, etc.
So where to go from here?
In 2008, stalwart conservatives who gave the Republican Party a generation of political victories, including presidencies, control of the Congress and of several states, were given the brush, kicked to the curb---religiously cleansed out of the party. Connecting God with politics was considered as dreadful as beating back Count Dracula with a crucifix.
We saw the 2008 Republican candidate scolding conservatives at every turn while holding hands with liberals....a candidate willing to throw conservatives under the bus to show he was this thing called "bi-partisan."
The failed 2008 Republican candidate did not comprehend how ridiculous he looked "reaching across the aisle to hold hands with Dems.......with Dems like Reid and Pelosi with mob-boss instincts, waiting to kneecap him.
He never seemed to understand why the crucial Rep base didn't want to send him contributions.....which forced him to resort to limited public financing, while his opponent raked in tens of millions of dollars (through superior fund-raising capabilities, including fraud and foreign contributions).
His opponent talked solemnly about big ideas while the Republican looked like he was channeling Herbert Hoover. Abortion worshippers RINO Guiliani and bi-LIEberman shadowing the Republican candidate at every step unnerved conservatives.
===========================================
Our nation has endured multiple calamities in its short, courageous history: the Boston Massacre, the Continental Army facing a bitter winter at Valley Forge, the burning of Washington by the British, the attack on Fort Sumpter, then the Civil War and the assassination of President Lincoln, the sinking of the USS Maine, the Great Depression, the attack on Pearl Harbor, the Kennedy assassination, and the 9/11 attacks on American soil.
Now many Americans perceive they will endure the most serious attack on Constitutional freedoms by our own government via the election of 2008 which brough about the election of a radical socialist and liberal control of the Congress.
Current political conditions are almost identical to those that brought about the destruction of the Roman Empire: glorifying perversions; advancing illegal immigration; inciting barbaric haters who would destroy us; vast growth in government; runinous taxation; and religious cleansing---destroying every last vestige of the nation's faith. We can only pray that God will restore our once-great republic in this time of crisis.
Worth remembering: Second US President and Founder John Adams: Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other."
John Adams was born to a modest Puritan family, but he felt acutely the responsibility of living up to his family heritage: the founding generation of Puritans, who came to the American wilderness in the 1630s and established colonial presence in America.
The Puritans of the great migration believed they lived in the Bible. England under the Stuarts was Egypt; they were Israel fleeing
to establish a refuge for godliness, a city upon a hill."
McCain's support for the bailout didn't hurt him. It was the way he handled himself during the bailout process.
You see, I'm not necessarily against Palin. I'm simply pointing out she wasn't ready for prime time. In time, maybe she will. But she sort of Quayled herself to those who don't read what her choir reads.
oh, I thought whined and annoyed were the same also.
I'm sure that it was a bit annoying to give birth to a child and have the press ask about the maternity of the child. Also the crude references by comedy writers concerning possible incest were a bit annoying.
I think I'll just keep thinking that this lady from Alaska just might be our first female president. It sure seems to have made the Romney/Perry/Crist/SCHWARZENEGGER/Dole/Chaffee, left wing of the Republican party nervous.
Wouldn't want that Christian/gun owning/tax cutting/self reliant right wing of the Republican Party to get to uppity.
Listen "my friend", John McCain enjoyed the summer and fall of applause, now he can go back and represent Arizona in the Senate. I'm sure that he will reach out to Obama and the dems. Cause that's what we all need... we need Washington to get together and "do something", otherwise we're just wandering around lost without direction from a central authority.
Good, decent and couragous people in politics are hard to find. That's why when one appears on the scene they should be embraced and supported with the utmost vigor.
John McCain is an honorable man.
And not coming to Sarah's defense was a despicable act of cowardice.
But John McCain is an honorable man.
So you’re fine when someone is becomes annoyed at fair questions? Sounds a bit strange to me.
How many serious political figures have you ever heard of that have absolutely zero articles, books, papers, maifestos to his/her name? What actual conservative thought can we attribute to her? Reagan had a solid track record of writing that established his credentials - but Sarah couldn't even answer which books she'd actually read ("Runner's World?")
Sarah Palin was embarrassing to listen to - she never knew how to make a point and then just stop. This wasn't a beauty contest.
John McCain served this country with distinction for half a century. Most or all of you couldn't compare your service to our country, combined, to equal his record.
Now - a straightforward question - do you REALLY believe that Sarah Palin is antywhere near Ron Reagan or Maggie Thatcher or Jeannie Kilpatrick? Gimme a break!
"GOP Senator: McCain Betrayed Republican Principles"
MYRTLE BEACH, South Carolina (CNN) South Carolina Sen. Jim DeMint on Friday became one of the first high-profile Republicans to publicly criticize John McCain following his electoral defeat, blaming the Arizona senator for betraying conservative principles in his quest for the White House.
And YOU are an Obama supporter and draft-dodger..
Fair enough?
You never did answer what conservative credentials Palin has - because there aren't any.
Seriously, do you ACTUALLY believe that Joe Biden is more qualified to be VP than the GOVERNOR and Ex-Mayor???? Even with ALL the ARTICLES that have been written about him (not even sureWTH that has to do with anything.
Sarah is a GREAT person and a GOOD politician and leader.....maybe you just don't like CHRISTIAN PRO_lIFE WOMEN.
John Mccain is a good man, a hero and loves this country and supports our military everyday. Is McCain perfect? Of course not..He is 100% better than what we now have for the next four years.
