Fear of succeeding. He was really worried he might win and then have to actually do the job.

He just wasn’t the man for the job. His ego needed to be fed by giving him the candidacy. Just like Dole, it was some kind of stupid game (It’s my turn!) How selfish of him - he put himself before country.

We are at a crossroads, and McCain didn’t see beyond his own nose - we needed a leader who would be serious about energy independence NOW and McCain blew it.

True. I cannot escape the feeling that it was all a set up. the whole financial situation, the current gridlock in DC, the bail out and on and on and on. His turn with no hope of winning. Obama’s pick as a bad joke on the country. Either that or politics has become so random as to be total chaos.

While I don't agree with you and some others concerning Sarah Palin I know one thing, we conservatives better find someone to rally around or face years of wandering in the political wilderness. In the 60's we rallied around Goldwater, in the 70's, 80s and even the 90s it was Reagan. Now we find fault with every conservative who attempts to step forward and lead the way.

Let's hold our shots and let these leaders emerge. The cream can then rise to the top without our souring it beforehand.

"Give me a freaking break....I know you are kind of NEW here, but Sarah was REAL and REFRESHING and CONSERVATIVE....not some PHONY "

And drew crowds as high as 70,000 and didn't need a rock band to get them there. and this continued through-out the campaign.

Not even the "silver tongued" Obama could do that.

McCain didn't cast every vote in the Republican primary.

He didn't run a perfect campaign, and he definitely has some flaws. However, any candidate would have had a tough time because they'd be struggling to distance themselves from a president with the worst approval rating since Nixon or Carter. I'm not blaming Bush for this. But to fail to admit that the Republicans were severely handicapped this election is a path on the road to failure. When the party should be closing ranks, everyone is pointing fingers.

As for Palin, she brought a lot of great things to the campaign. An appearance of seasoned self-confidence in the face of non-scripted interviews was not one of them. She may be able to get that confidence over the next four years, but I suspect her political career will peak in Alaska. It's not like she's not doing important work as Governor (and perhaps as Senator in the future).

Did you really expect Mc Cain to win with:

George Bush’s approval rating being in the toilet and the Republicans being blamed for every scourge and ill on earth, including the stock market and bailout debacles

ACORN committing widespread fraud and voter intimidation at polling places on behalf of Nobama

The media spinning stories constantly to favor Nobama and to trash Mc Cain, and giving Nobama three times more press coverage

Nobama illegally amassing a campaign war chest with foreign and untraceable dollars that dwarfed Mc Cain’s fund raising etc.

There is no need to disparage a war hero by implying he has bipolar behavior or politically inept in running his campaign. Honestly, I find that offensive.

I think he did remarkably well under the circumstances!

Well Reagan must have noticed problems as he invoked the 11th commandment.

3. John McCain was a hero before the campaign, was a hero throughout the campaign, and remains a hero today. No pundit, right or left, can change that fact. Those people that try to smear John McCain are always those midgets on the periphery that never served a day in any organization where their lives were on the line. Always safer to be a critic behind some anonymous keyboard.

I voted for McCain.

Not because he was a hero, but because he represented the Republican Party. That was it, period.

When he received the nomination I KNEW that we had Bob Dole part two. It was pathetic.

As far as your view of Sarah Palin's intellect. Her speaking style and her delivery are that of a "normal" person thrust into the media with minimal training...... or somebody that has been in front of the camera and adopted that style of delivery for a purpose.

You're right, Sarah Palin is a big girl. I don't think I saw her whining about all the cr#p that the libs and their media enablers threw at her.

Most of her support came from decent people that saw another decent person trashed for no other reason than politics.

As far as future elected positions for Sarah Palin, she now has the Reagan model to fall back on. The Senate is a legislative not an executive position. She should avoid it at all cost and I believe she will. She's a "team player" and was never disloyal to Mr. McCain, who should now go back and be "mavericky" (whatever the heck that means) and suck up to the New York Time/WaPo when he trashes conservatives.

If you want RINO's puhleeze support Romney and Rick Perry, Crist and the lot of them. The only "leaders" that I've seen with a set are Palin and Jindal.

Well, not physically whined, but was annoyed with as she termed them valid questions.

When his country needed him to take on its biggest threat ever, when he was the one in a position to lead the attack, he was AWOL. His here status from being shot down and held prisoner. That was not a choice. He was a victim and nor a hero. You’ll all hate me for that but I’m not interested.
What is so honorable to refuse to tell the truth about one country’s enemy-Obama. How is that country first? It isn’t. No way.

Let me make a small correction to my previous reply to you. Well, not physically whined, but was annoyed with as she termed them fair (not valid as previously written) questions.

Unless i am getting dangerously paranoid, i agree with you...the whole thing has been way too weird.

Could just be a confluence of events ( the phrase I use now when I can’t explain sh*t. ha)
