The GOP will automatically gain seats from redistricting, and new presidents historically take a beating in Congress in the midterm election. Just ask Clinton.

The “President” “we” just “elected” will, in all likelihood, give a load of sheeple BO voters buyers remorse.

Hey Karl, don't make such assumptions anymore. Treat each campaign as a NATIONAL EFFORT. And when redistricting takes place, it tends to be to the advantage of the MAJORITY PARTY.

I wonder if he was drunk when he said that.

The census is held in 2010, so its numbers won’t affect Congressional districts until 2012 at the earliest.

Karl was talking about, due to population increase in red states (like Texas) and decreases in blue states (like California), an increase in seats and electoral votes to red states. From the link:

[T]he 2010 Census could allocate as many as four additional congressional districts to Texas, two each to Arizona and Florida, and one district to each of a number of (mostly) red-leaning states, while subtracting seats from (mostly) blue-leaning states like Michigan, New York, Ohio and Pennsylvania and, for the first time, California. Redistricting and reapportionment could help tilt the playing field back to the GOP in Congress and the race for the White House by moving seven House seats (and electoral votes) from mostly blue to mostly red states.

I'm so sick of the incompetent GOP.

Here is one of our party's messages.

“Hey, do you like money and success? Well we are the party that brings wealth to the country so if you want success vote us in. You are not getting wealthy when taxes are raised and the government is giving you free stuff.”

And so what? It was said of Louis the eighteenth after Napoleon was deposed, and the Bourbon monarchy reinstated, that during his exile, he learned nothing, and forgot nothing. I hope that does not apply to the GOP.

Obama could go down as even more unpopular than Hoover. I suspect that a lot of Republicans were secretly glad that he and the Democrats won this time, because they are facing a huge number of lose-lose scenarios.

Obama has been made “honorary Captain” of the Titanic, one hour and fifteen minutes after it hit the iceberg. He has five minutes to live it up, though it will be a rough cruise from here on out.

So, Karl, would that be a “slam-dunk” as you said 2006 would be?

Getting conservatives in the House and Senate in 2010 should be our chief concern.

Do the math, seven EC votes ain’t going to make up the difference. And two years ago you would have had Virgina and North Carolina as “Red States.”

You need to flip states.

The Big difference is rural vs. urban, and as long as the GOP plays the identity politics of “Real America” vs “Fake America” they will continue to get killed in the cities.

The BIG problem with this theory is that it is likely made up of liberals invading Southern States. As NC, FL, VA, GA get more population and districts, they get slightly bluer.

FL, NC, VA, GA aren’t changing, they are BEING CHANGED. There is a big difference.

Yeah, they've done such a great job the last eight years who could doubt them?

Karl was talking about, due to population increase in red states (like Texas) and decreases in blue states (like California), an increase in seats and electoral votes to red states.

Although that statement is true, if Democrats control the re-drawing of district lines they will be able to more than offset the losses due to the population shift Rove is talking about. Unless Republicans have a big 2010 cycle, the Democrats are going to dominate the 2010-2012 redistricting process. I've seen estimates that the Democrats are likely to add double digit House seats simply through redrawing the maps to their benefit.
