“I just cant see Obamas GF (she wasnt married to the guy yet)...traveling all the way to Kenya in the later months of her pregnancy...to sit around there and eventually give birth. Added to this...in 1961...there are only a handful of flights going into Kenya on a weekly basis. So my imagination to dream up some 19-year old girl from Kansas originally...leftist in nature...traveling with her boyfriend...while several months pregnant...to the heartland of Kenya? And then she gives birth in some tribal ceremony with a cow slaughtered, and some enchanting enchanting tribal words spoken upon delivery? It just goes beyond my imagination”
This is pretty much what I’ve thought about the Kenya story (I still think something’s wrong) - a lot of people don’t know or don’t remember how different things were in 1961. To say nothing of - why would she go to the place where he already had a wife to give birth?
Supposedly, he had not told her he already had a wife.
It’s not that simple, but things were different for sure.
Anne Dunham was impregnated in November 1960 at age 17 by her father Stanley’s friend, Frank Marshall Davis. Davis was a known Communist under the surveillance of the FBI. Probably would have been thrown in prison for statutory rape.
To prevent that, Stanley and Frank got this Obama guy to go along with the story that he was the father. A bunch of money was probably involved, from Davis’ rich wife. After the fall quarter ended in late January, Anne & Barack Sr went to Kenya to get “married” to sell the story. (Obama’s family were polygamous Muslims, so the first wife wasn’t a problem.)
Anne was not a typical “Kansas girl” — this is just the kind of the adventure she was up for. She stayed for several months (you’re right, flying back and forth wasn’t so easy) and tried to get back home in time to have the baby, but they wouldn’t let her on the airplane when she tried to leave in July. Baby Barry was probably born in the hospital in Mombosa, though I’m sure animal slaughters and whatnot were carried out in the village to celebrate. She and baby Barry would have finally got on a plane a few days later.
