Gingrich "gets it", he's one of the few with the actual intellectual capacity to renew conservatism and get beyond the idiocy of identity politics. Hockey mums and Joe Sixpack the plumber are nice but identity politics should never be enough to define republicanism. A small goverment is no state of mind, it's a concept based on cold, hard facts - and lots of work to actually achieve it.
