Robert Gates is a wus. He has played the perfect lapdog for more than thirty years in Washington. He never has a bad word to say about anyone, and he never comes up with a new idea. Come to think of it, the same can be said of Lugar. I guess Obama wants a mediocre cabinet.

He won’t keep Gates. What kind of ‘change’ would it be to keep Bush secretaries in place!? Not going to fly for his supporters.

Oh yeah, these tired old mugs that we’ve seen year after year are certainly the faces of change.

I don’t know who his final picks will be, but I can assure you that if he picks a Senator or a Representative to serve in his cabinet, it will be from a state whose governor is Democrat. That way, the balance of power is not reduced by replacing a Democratic Senator/Representative with a Democrat. Watch and see. The Senate will more than likely be 56/44 DEM/REP. It wouldn’t suprise me to see him select a Republican from a state that has a Democratic Governor. If he selected 4 Republicans (and they accept)that way, the Senate will have a filibuster proof majority without an election.

Press Secretary Keith Olberman, Cris Matthews, Rachael Madcow. They’re all gay, right?

I am from Indiana. (Sorry 'bout the blue State thing.)

Yes - Lugar is pretty much worthless and has become such a permanent part of Washington as to be no longer for the citizens of Indiana, but merely for himself.
(I dont even remember him ever helping out with anyone else's campaign.)

HOWEVER - while I was originally against appointing such a worthless turd as Sec of State or some other post, I have since changed my mind and now fully support Lugar finding a place in the Obama administration.
You see - if Obama takes him, then the Senate seat will open up, and maybe - just maybe - our state party officials will find someone that is more reflective of our conservative values to replace him.

Look for that silver lining, eh ?
In many respects, Lugar reminds me of Bond and Grassley. Both have become part of the problem.

Yeah, I have to look for the silver lining...I cant change the results of the election, and I cannot continue to fume about it*. So, I try to look for some good and prepare for things to come.

*My original seething anger/frustration has turned to constant mumbling about "stupid people" and lighthearted chats about starting a new country w/my father and father-in-law if we cant get this one back.
