“Sure, just like Nero was ordained, Pharaoh was ordained, Nebuchanezzar was ordained, Hitler was put into power, and so on.

God often allows evil men to powerful positions, but in the end it is always towards HIS purposes”

Absolutely right. Proverbs 16:4 says “The LORD hath made all things for himself: yea, even the wicked for the day of evil.” Revelation 17:17 says “For God hath put in their hearts to fulfill his will, and to agree, and give their kingdom unto the beast, until the words of God shall be fulfilled.” Now, even though Obama is NOT the beast mentioned here it does show that God will give kingdoms to those whom He chooses for His specific purposes.

Also remember that Paul warned us there would be a great falling away from the faith and righteousness before the Man of Perdition is revealed (2 Thessalonians 2:3). Things will only get worse for the world, but the born again believer in Christ’s future has never been better.

The link this thread stems from quotes Romans 13:1. What's relevant is Romans 13:1-3...

Romans 13:1-3 Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God. (2) Therefore whoever resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment. (3) For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad. Would you have no fear of the one who is in authority? Then do what is good, and you will receive his approval,

God institutes rulers on Earth as our authority in all civil things. However, as other Bible verses tell us (Daniel 3:6-18, Acts 5:29) We are not to obey government decrees that oppose God's Word. God is the higher authority.

Now think about this. What is the rule under which we live? Is it not the US Constitution and the Bill of Rights? That being so, are we still commanded by God to obey rulers who's acts and laws fall contra to those documents?

This was discussed on another thread. As for me, I can see no Biblical reason why I should obey a law that is unconstitutional. However, we must be careful that we broadly rebel against governing authority when what we are upset over is not contrary to God's Law.

Just my two cents...
