Even Mitt Romney was sort of, kind of, maybe more conservative.

Romney WAS much more loyal to conservatives than McCain ever was the past 12 years... even considering Romney's quasi universal health care in Mass...that's for sure.

If hard right conservatives continue to reject people like Romney because they once uttered a few PC comments about homo civil rights, or whatever, then the GOP will be on the outs for decades to come.

Heck, I've also made dumb comments in the past about various issues which I am now adamantly conservative.

Bottom line: Romney and people like him make MUCH better advocates of conservative positions than McCain ever could.... considering the foibles and inadequacies of McCain's speaking style.

It’s a good article, well worth the time to read it. I agree with your comment:

“Romney and people like him make MUCH better advocates of conservative positions than McCain ever could.”

Romney could, and did, present and defend conservative principles. McCain didn’t. From the article “McCain was a Reagan Democrat.” I think that sums him up very well.

Huckabee is socially conservative only. He is no more inclined and able to defend freedom and the free market (”greed”) than was McCain. Sarah has the right values and is a wonderful woman, but is currently not ready for prime time at the top of the ticket. Of course, I would be much happier with her as President than Barack Hussein Obama.
