“Lots of Obama’s plans are similar to FDR’s in the thirties. And yes, a lot of the original ideas of the Founding Fathers WERE lost in the New Deal - and some are still absent. Heck, lots of folks think that the Real America died in 1933.”

I can see 1933 as the year that the infection started. When FDR basically packed the Supreme Court with people who would say what he was doing was constitutional, the bacteria was introduced into the system. Tonight was the culmination of the 75 years that the sickness grew.

“But - I sincerely believe, that as dark as this night is, America has not died. Not yet. But we will need to continue to fight for it.”

I can hope with you. If it’s not dead, it’s on life support and the nurse is headed for the plug.

I am reminded of a verse that is simple and true. Hopefully this verse will be read over and over and over again.

“If My people, who are called by My Name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

2 Chronicles 7:14

Nope. 1913

1) Amendment 16 personal income tax removed the state as a buffer between the people and national slavery.
2) Amendment 17 direct election of senators took the control of the Senate away from state legislators and undermined issues of federalism they were best equiped to understand.
3) Federal Reserve Act - not a big conspiracy - just an unnecessary bureaucracy doomed to inflate the currency to failure.

All 1913.

After that, prohibition (alcohol by amendment), women voting, New Deal, and prohibition (marijuana and other drugs without constitutional authority - for it or against it, there is no authority intrastate pre-FDR court jurisprudence)

It is good to finally hear some sanity in this endless night of horror. What we have feared has come to pass. But why are some of us sounding so surprised and as though we had nothing to do with it happening?

Why are we surprised that the country wanted no more of the Republican party's policies? The fact that Republican policies had degenerated into a watered down version of liberal policies, was lost on the dumb masses. They need someone to blame and the prefer blaming Republicans rather than their own.

Why are we surprised that the historical "miracle" of Freedom fighters winning against all odds (like in the Revolutionary War, like in WWI and WWII) does not seem to work for us anymore? Even many people here on FreeRepublic refuse to acknowledge God's hand in that miracle, or even to acknowledge God's existence!

Why are we Christians surprised that God's Word is true? He will have His way and His will be done.... even though it may not go the way we want it to. It seems that God has had enough of America's wayward behavior.

As for me, I prefer to think that it is not so much God punishing us in hatred, but rather His admonishing us as a loving Father would his child. Sort of like being sent to "time out" with no dinner and made to stay there till we see our wrongs. I voted for McCain today. How could I have done otherwise? But in my heart I knew that McCain would not be what America needs to cure its woes. Oh, we most certainly would have had a temporary reprieve, but it would have been fleeting, putting off the inevitable.

The American masses have spoken. They want to abandon God, trade their freedom for what they think will be a cushy living with redistribution of wealth, and experiment with the Marxist Utopia we have allowed their school textbooks to speak of. Why does any of that surprise us? Nothing we say will discourage them because they do not hear us. They do not hear us because they have lost all respect for our spokespersons. Can we blame them for that?

So are we doomed? Is this the end of America? I must confess that I was entertaining that idea a few minutes ago. Then I read MissouriConservative's post and it was like a ray of light! God's Word has a way of doing that, bringing blessings and joy to those that hear it. I printed it out and hung it on the wall by my desk where I can read it over and over again. (note to self: need to make a copy to hang in the kitchen as well). It lifts my heart. I would love to see it become a new goal of Free Republic in our ongoing fight to take back our nation.

“If My people, who are called by My Name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
