Dealt with before. His mother would have had to have been a citizen for 5 years past her 14th birthday. She was 18 when she had him.I'm not following you. Do you mean to say that his mother wasn't a native born citizen of the USA?

The law at the time said that for him to inherit native born status, she had to have been a citizen for 5 years after her 14th birthday when he was born.

Do you mean to say that his mother wasn't a native born citizen of the USA? No, she was native born American. But the law was changed a number of times since 1790. The one in affect at the time of his birth said that the mother had to be a US citizen for 5 years after her 16th birthday. She had him when she was 18. No deal. Not a citizen.
