I walked into work a few weeks ago and caught my boss watching a video online called "Loose Change." It's basically the audio/visual bible for left-wing 9/11 conspiracy theorists. I yelled at her for allowing evil lies to get into her head and she replied that she was "bored" and it was "just interesting."
It still makes me sick, as we remember today those horrible acts, that there is this vocal, energetic minority out there that pumps this cancerous information out into the ether. Worse yet, many foreigners seem to believe it as a matter of accepted fact. From a piece that ran two days ago in the New York Times:
"Look, I don't believe what your governments and press say. It just can't be true," said Ahmed Issab, 26, a Syrian engineer who lives and works in the United Arab Emirates. "Why would they tell the truth? I think the U.S. organized this so that they had an excuse to invade Iraq for the oil."

I can't count the number of times I've set people straight on the controlled explosion theory that I've almost given up as anybody dumb enough to believe it is beyond help.
There is one thing to remember when discussing this topic with others. People all over the world are obsessed with conspiracy theories. Look at the JFK Conspiracy, The infecting of people with HIV Conspiracy, The CIA Drug Conspiracy, etc.
These theories are candy for some folks because they are incapable of thinking clearly and concisely about any complicated subject. If they can't figure it out a conspiracy theory is created.
Some folks cry conspiracy every time they misplace their car keys. If you choice to engage them keep this thought in the back of your mind.
'When you are engaged in a battle of wits, make sure your opponent is armed'.
Are you sure that’s the correct quote?
As for these Truthinessers, I despise them about as much as our Moslem pals. These aren’t simply conspiracy nuts (some conspiracies probably DO have credence), they are America-haters. The usual suspects. They don’t like the idea of anyone but Americans being mean, cruel and evil, so they turn it around to blame Americans.
If it had happened in Europe, e.g., there would be no such theories. It would be believed as it was seen, because Europeans are so much more trustworthy and good and nice and fair than Americans, and not as greedy. Not that they wouldn’t be blamed as far as “they brought it on themselves”, because they aren’t as high up on the morality plane as Moslems, but still, there wouldn’t be any government collusion, of course.
I had the misfortune of having been within earshot of one of those bungholes this last weekend. I was hanging out in the Barnes &Noble cafe section when this ponytailed hippie-type started churning his overloud pie-hole with Truther crap, and advocating the watching of “(screw-)Loose Change” The worst part of it was that this clown was not speaking quietly with the person he was speaking to, but was blasting his crap in a foghorn-like fashion.
It was REALLY hard not to go off on this nitwit, but I didn’t want to spoil things for everyone else by causing a scene.
