McCain’s reputation as a war hero rests on the sum total of 20 hours in combat. That’s right. McCain spent only 20 hours in combat in the entire war. He flew 23 missions. He got 28 medals. In other words, he got more medals than he had missions. Not bad. It should be noted that none of McCain’s medals related to anything he did in combat. They were given for the supposed bravery he displayed after he had been shot down and captured.

It’s appropriate to ask whether McCain’s shoot-down was caused by bad luck or simple incompetence on his part. Of course, there is no way to answer definitively. But we can form an assessment based on the rest of McCain’s military record. At the Naval Academy, McCain graduated almost bottom of his class. He was 790th out of 795. McCain lost many aircraft over the course of his military career – five in total. Most pilots who lost aircraft at the rate McCain did would have been kicked out of the service. But McCain had protection from up on high. His father was an admiral. He was an untouchable. So McCain blundered his way through his military career until he was finally shot down.

Incompetent & Unlucky - not the best qualities in a fighter pilot.

McCain was an arogant, not too talented fighter jock. BUT, he went into harm's way. As the son of the commanding Admiral in the Pacific he probably could have gotten out of it...but he didn't and he flew into the teeth of the tiger. He was shot down, bayonetted, tortured, and imprisoned for years, turning down the North's propoganda ploy that would have seen him get an early release.

By the accounts of those there with him, he served honorably, even heroically while he was captive.

That makes up for a whole lot of arrogance and whatever ineptitude he had in getting there.

Look, I do not think McCain is a good conservative candidate. Quite the contrary. it is a shame and disgusting that we are left with the options we have...but I have looked into his military record, and done so with a skeptical eye and I will not try and discount him over it. He served, he was injured, wounded, tortured and imprisoned for that service.

...and despite my severe misgivings about quite a few critical conservative issues he has betrayed his base on, yet he does hold some conservative issues that we can maintain during his administration. Compared to Obama, with McCain's military background, his commitment to the war against Islamic Jihad, his pro-life position (such as it is), there is really no comparison to the absolute marxist that Obama is.

And 47,200 hours in an enemy prison camp.

Who is the assclown who wrote this?

I believe that McCain has the best interests of the United Sates of America at heart. He is flat-out wrong in some of his policy positions but not all. Barrack Hussein Obama does not, IMO, have the best interests of the United States of America at heart and is wrong on virtually all of his policy positions. McCain is the obvious choice.

Nothing supposed about the zot just delivered to your posting privs. Nice links you have there, too - Daily Kos, Huff Post, and other liberal nutcase forums. Later, troll.
