As usual then Jr lied in his book “Dreams of My Father” as he stated that his grandparents had lived in two different homes prior to moving into the apt on Beretania St.There were three addresses associated with the Dunhams from the time of their arrival on HI. When his father visited in 1971 he mentions walking tours where they passed the home his grandparents had lived in prior to their move to the apartment plus a home he had not known they had lived in when they first moved to the island. The two homes mentioned in previous articles were the home at 2277 Kamehameha Ave., and 2234 University Ave., while Sr had lived initially at the Atherton Y.M.C.A. (across from the University) then moving into the small, single story home at 625 11th Ave. which is located in St. Louis Heights.(torn down sometime between the end of June 1962 and Dec., 1971) There was NEVER any mention of the home at 608 Kalanianaole Hwy which according to BIGLOOK, a Freeper in Oahu, is a very high rent district! IMO this is simply a CYA article that had to be printed once the birth announcement was circulated, the same as the explanation of the journalist who mentions that info for birth announcements came from the Dept of Health. The registration of a birth to the Dept of Health would also generate the announcement in the paper. How many people do you know who pay attention to birth announcements and the address listed for them? Before now that announcement would have been just another name no one paid attention to except for the principles involved!
