“...On vacation that summer in Hawaii with his second wife, Chicago socialite Helen Canfield Davis, he decided to stay on in Honolulu and remained there for the rest of his life. The interracial marriage lasted 24 years but finally ended in divorce. Davis first became a father at age 44, and the couple raised five children...”
I spent last night trying to find out more about Helen Canfield Davis and ended up at TD’s where some gals into geneaology were also researching. Apparently she was Helen Canfield Peck and her family disowned her when she married Davis. She was a card carrying member of the Communist Party and met Davis at the Abraham Lincoln School in Chicago (which apparently was a front for the Communist Party) Digging further I found that they lived 30 miles from Honolulu and he drove in daily, until the divorce in 1970 when he re-located to Waikiki which is detailed in a post above. I still have been unable to find out birth dates for his children(aside from Mark b.1950) although I did manage to find out their names now. The other children are: Beth Charlton, Lynn M. Smith,Jeanne M. Hyde, and Jill M. Prive found in the dedication to the autobiography of Davis. I’ll keep digging to see what I can find, but was struck by the story of when Davis initially met Jr in fall of 1970. Reading that story I was left with the impression that Davis and Jr had never met before. See here:

I also found last night that the 13 y.o. Anne Davis and his first wife,Thelma Boyd, seduced was a Jamaican.
