Susan says the visit occurred in August of 1961, prior to the time Stanley Ann had learned to change diapers. Barack was born sometime in late July or early August (the legend date which I believe is correct or close is August 4).
British Overseas Airlines schedules and routing in August of 1961 are posted early on this thread. Ann went from Nairobi, in Kenya, through Glasgow, in Scotland, to Vancouver BC. Routing from there to Honolulu was through Seattle and Mercer Island.
I believe there had already been a falling out between Ann and Bearick sr and she arrived in WA state intending on staying there until Bearick Sr had graduated and left Hawaii. We know she attended WA University, living in an apartment on Capitol Hill in 1962. Capitol Hill is an area she was familiar with, containing the coffee shops she had frequented during her high school days. She could have taken up residence after jr.’s birth and remained there until her return to Hawaii in 1962 after her semester at U of W. This would also explain the absence of baby pictures, remembering that the first photo of jr which is shared is the one of him sitting on the fence held in place by his mother. There are quite a few pictures of jr after that age but absolutely none of him as an infant. This was even evident from the CBC link I provided earlier, showing pictures of both McCain and Obama. Pictures of McCain include one of his father and grandfather with his grandfather holding the infant McCain but the first picture of Obama is the one which I just mentioned.
