I'll ask this question.
How do we know that the McKinnon files weren't derived from the fightthesmears.com and daily kos file?
Look, I suspect there is nothing to all of this because I have seen nothing compelling or credible to suggest that Obama was not born in the United States, but this admission of forgery makes it a lot more interesting to me.

One image created and posted by OpenDNA is an “almost blank” template of a State of Hawaii Certification of Live Birth. Only two data fields are filled in: the ISLAND OF BIRTH (”Oahu”) and the HOUR OF BIRTH (7:24 PM). With the arrogance on one with no fear of being caught, “OpenDNA” described correctly the crime he was preparing. Neither of the images have a posted date stamp, but embedded EXIF information contains the time stamp of June 12 at 8:24am, almost exactly the same day and time Daily Kos posted the purported Obama birth certificate.

Time/date stamps were in logical order to arrive at the KOS final product.
Read the links. The McKinnon files (including the fill-in-the-blanks document template) are higher resolution than the fightthesmears.com and daily kos files.
