True. Reputable doctors did emergency D&C's because of the random bleeding that they coached their patients to say they had.

By the time the pregnancy was "discovered" in the OR it would be too late to save he fetus.

There were also less reputable doctors, disbarred doctors, and Dr. Kildare wannabes who would perform more-or-less safe abortions.

Then there was the ever popular coat hanger.

True, if only Obama himself would see how support for abortion if made popular and legal by 1955 would have likely resulted in his non-being. His mom did have hardy stock in her, being yet that it was so defiant and immature that it trapped her. Yet was she trapped or liberated by his birth, all in all? He says that his daughters should not feel trapped by an early pregnancy. There is the chance for heroism of his mother, that she lived with the consequences. Or does he remember her as a victim?

Should we be born, that at the end we are only victims?

Well Ann may have tried. Barack Sr. knew he was already married, and could not legally marry her in the US. He also left them very shortly after Barack Jr. was born, whereever that was. He was just a predator, 7 years older than Ann, who knew he'd be going back to his wife, and probably taking other wives, which he eventually did. But I guess Ann gave him a taste for the exotic (by Kenyan standards) , since the wife after her, the second legal wife, (in Kenya), was also a white gal named Ruth who also eventually divorced him and married a Tanzanian.
