I am trying to talk my extremely conservative son to join FreeRepublic. He lurks here, particularly when I send him a link to a good thread, and he then passes these on to his group of conservative friends.
I told him that he might be questioned/suspected a troll because of the heat of the election season, and that if he was, to mention my screen name. Because of his hectic work schedule, and a brand new baby in the house, I do not think he has signed up just yet.
When he does, I will vouch for him.
Good luck getting your son to join! I wish my very conservative nephew would, but he’s a busy college student and works to earn money to help pay for his expenses, so no luck so far. But when Ann Coulter came to speak at USC last year, he took his copy of her latest book and she signed it! His seven liberal suitemates wouldn’t go, of course, but their combined young-skull-full-of-mushness doesn’t faze him.
