Thanks for the input. The SOS cleared him to run for state office but this is national. How far is Springfield from Chicago anyway?
Just an aside.....McCain ran in the 2000 primaries and nothing was brought up then about his eligibility to run. Why now?

website lists "natural born" citizenship as a prerequisite for inclusion on the state's ballot for the presidential primary election.

"The SOS cleared him to run for state office ..." Candidates for office do NOT get "cleared" by the Secretary of State in the State. At least not in my state (PA).
A candidate merely signs in presence of witnesses and notary a document that says he/she meeets all the requirements of office. The Secretary of State accepts that affirmation and does not verify it at all.
To challenge a candidate one goes to a court of jurisdiction in the matter in your state and files a challenge. That is how McCain is being challenged right now.
