There is something scary about all this...
For me , one aspect of this exercise has been most troubling. The very clear Constitutional requirement should have prompted the candidate to quickly and forthrightly authorize the state of Hawaii to make his birth records open for inspection. The posting of images on his own or other websites is not a substitute for making the data available from primary sources.
I have no idea as to the authenticity of the document images provided thus far or to Obama's claim of natural born citizenship; but, IMHO, he has already failed in a duty associated with seeking our nation's highest office. Namely, to provide the electorate with the most accurate data possible with which to judge his suitability for the presidency.
Win or lose in the coming election, he has cast doubt on his integrity and shown a lack of respect for the office that he seeks.

I think the DNC would have the reponsibility to vet its nominees prior to running for office. (Excuse me while I get over a laughing fit....) Other than that I don't know who else other than the Bureau has the authority or responsibility.
