And when the Mongolians seized power over China and Tibet they put Tibet in charge of China. I guess the Mongols knew who they could trust with responsibility.

Does that mean Russia is part of China.(?)
They will reply with a straight face. “It should be”

The karma of arrogance is the loss of credibility.

It’s a good thing for the Japanese that their invasion of China failed, had it succeeded, 100 years from now the Chinese will claim that Japan is a part of China.

I appreciate that you share your information and opinions even if I do not agree with all of them. I had the pleasure of visiting your beautiful country almost 25 years ago. My father spent much time in your country for business purposes starting in the 1970s. Since then your country has changed dramatically.

I notice that you often speak of reading the New York Times for information. You may not be aware that the NYT does not report an accurate picture of our country and government. It used to be a highly respected newspaper but no more. It often distorts facts and publishes anti-American propaganda. Yes, they have the freedom to do this. There was a time when it was the premiere source of news. Now many people will not line the bottom of their bird cages with it!

When you read about our country, you should keep in mind that the NYT, CNN, MSNBC, BBC... and some other western media do not accurately reflect the state of our country, our politics or our people because they have a leftist political agenda.

I’m counting about three ChiCom trolls on this thread alone, all with relatively new sign up dates.

I missed this thread even though Tigers Eye pinged me earlier. Thanks to you both.

I think it is time to dust off the ping list and start using it again. My self-imposed moratorium (due to the earthquake) is coming to an end.

guys I welcome you coming to Tibet to see what is really happening here, this will tell you the truth instead of western media.

A carefully guided tour, under the watchful eye of a Chinese escort? I'm betting you don't just buy a plane ticket to Tibet, get off the plane and wander around where ever you want. You'll see what they want you to see, and no more.

I feel very sorry about the earthquake in China & the many victims. But you can not expect to come to this site & tell us what to do. Read the rules. We have mods you know. Prayers for the people of China. Prayers for the people of Tibet & the prayer that someday they will be free of China & the terrible things that are being done to them! Free Tibet!

Even if 90% of the business in Lhasa were owned by Han-Chiense ,it could not prove that the poverty of TIbetan were caused by the immigrant of Han-Chinese.

Han-Chinese are always are good at business.
As we see ,Han-Chinese also owns most buniess in most Indonisa ,Philips and Malaysia, although they are suppressed politically .

That is what YOU stated in your previous post. Are you now changing your position?

If you watch the video I posted a link to it shows just what I said. The vast majority of rioters are ordinary Tibetans and most of the monks are not participating.

What you can't answer for is that the Chinese police started the riot.

I have counted 107 Chinese sign ups since May 12th the day of the quake. Two have been zotted within about two days. More are revealing their real reason for being here every day. Their concern for the quake victims didn’t last long.

They aren't rioting or protesting. They aren't being beaten or shot. They aren't in prisons being tortured for possessing pictures of revered elders. They have full citizenship in the United States and their own lands that no one else can own or control. Many tribes are becoming rich with oil, logging, gambling casinos and other business ventures and they get tax free status and hire who they want. No outsiders live on their reservations or do business there without their permission.

Are all American Indians happy with the arrangements they have with our government? No. But all of the above is true and none of it is true for Tibetans.

Were the Chinese starting a new nation settling in a wilderness with 19th century technology when they invaded Tibet? Did the Chinese have no other land to be on? No, the "civilized" Chinese had been there for 5,000 years of continuous culture not 100 like Americans. After 5,000 years of continuous culture the Chinese are still more barbaric than 19th century fur trappers and gold seekers in a wilderness land with no law.

Nutspea,

You handle yourself very well on this thread. It is always difficult to discuss a topic with so many people arguing with you at once. You have earmed the respect of many here.

Sadly, I do want to disagree with you on a few points in post #37...

Although there are corruptions and repressions in the government due to lack in powerful supervisions

The primary problem is that China's Constitution installs the Communist Party above the National People's Congress, the Supreme People's Court, and the Presidency. That lack of supervision you note is really just an unwillingness for the CCP leadership to allow itself to be subject to any review, criticism, or punishments for their occasional bad acts.

I believe in our education system, which cultivates such a lot of persons like me who can think independently, with no bias on the government or on the people, who hope to do good for the interest of our country, our people and help to improve the government.

I have taught in Chinese schools. Free indepedent thought does exist, but not to the degree necessary for true progress.

The steps of heading for democracy can not be too fast, it needs time but won’t be done in one night.

Non-Chinese people truly need to understand WHY Chinese people feel this way. Most Westerners have very little understanding about the Cultural Revolution, and its effects on the Chinese psyche. Please correct me if I am wrong, but most Chinese today seem to be reluctant to advocate for large-scale changes in short time periods. This is almost directly due to many of the "mistakes" of the Cultural Revolution.

What we need firstly is the stability of economic life and dominion of our own land, which can not be looted by the others.

Now most Chinese must understand that this stance is entirely promoted by the CCP leadership, and is utterly false. In fact, this position virtually guarantees that social progress will NOT be made, because no nation, not even the US at its greatest, would ever say that they are fully stable economically, nor that their borders are 100% safe. I promise you, my friend, that if you allow China to wait for this stability, it will never come.

As long as we preserve stability and domonion of ourself instead of leting our destiny to the foreign, we will eventually make a better China, better and better, as time goes on.

The most interesting point here is that China has rarely allowed outside forces to dominate its destiny. As most Chinese proudly proclaim today, the Chinese society is now "open". This means, of course, that it was not open previously. Before Richard Nixon's famous cooperation trip to China, China was only influenced by outside forces that used their military. China rarely bowed to mere political pressure. The same is true today. China's population, industrial importance, and drive to become a global power all mean that China's leaders do not bow to many external pressures.

Tibet is our domestic problems, we could handle it ourself, we will achieve a better result by discussions between both sides of Chinese who living in Tibet and the other place of China.

Ah, but that is the problem. China cannot even think about the fact that Tibet was not Chinese, and currently does not want to be Chinese. Tibetans do NOT consider their struggle to be a Chinese internal matter. Since the very first point of discussion is utterly rejected by one side, how can you have any discussion that brings peace, other than by using threats of force or cultural invasions to further the debates?

By the way, NYT also does not always tell the truth, it must help the government.

True, the NYT is AWFUL as an information source... but it only supports half of our government. They hate Republicans, and laways support Democrats.

Believe it or not, I have read a lot of articles in NYT about China, some of them even lack the basic knowledge of China and some fabricate on purpose, while some tend to mislead the people by equivocating.

I believe that 100% about the NYT. This webpage is FAR more educational, even though it also promotes so many individual opinions at the same time.

Try to read more, but not solely your own media, ‘cause in some extent, to what extent I have no idea, media is controlled by the government.

This is always good advice. Those who post in this webpage are probably among the best informed, and obtain information for more diverse sources than any other news outlet in the world. I truly believe this.

It is great to meet you, my FRiend! I hope to communicate more with you in the future. I just returned from Hong Kong and Guangdong province 2 weeks ago, and am eager to return soon.

The pictures are real. They are one snapshot of all that happened that day. Look at the video I posted and see how many ordinary Tibetans are rioting and how few monks.

But how many monks in those two pictures are rioting and what does it look like the other monks are doing? I find it funny that badguy2200 thinks it doesn't matter that monks are also mad about how the Chinese treat them. Is it OK to mistreat them because they are religious?
