LOL! Good advice when choosing a mate!

When cats knock on the door and meow, I feed them, if not they sit out there and cry.

The one thing that I do not have is mice.

They sit back and watch the birds eat their food, so they know what would upset me.

I often look at the variety in color and size and it renews my faith that there is a God, who can create such beauty.

It was the neighbor’s dogs that ate my last chickens.

I’ve done some research, and some of the little warty gourds are part of the c. pepo family, as is most zucchini and yellow squash, so they can cross.

Some sources I read said I could plant squash and pumpkins side by side if they were from different families (c. pepo, c. maxima, c. moschata etc.), and the seed would say true. Other sources said there are some instances of cross-pollination between family groups. So, I’m still confused :) I think I can grow the cucuzzi gourd with no problems, as it’s lagenaria siceraria though. I may try hand-pollinating to be sure.

My own dogs have killed a young hen on occasion. They were always very good about “rounding them up” at the end of the day and if a hen wasn’t cooperative enough, she learned a final lesson. ;)

Dogs will kill, there is not a way that I know of to stop them.
