CPT Henry Wirz MD, late of the MC,PACSA &
Mrs. Mary Surratt.
Both are buried at Mt Olivet Roman Catholic Cemetery at 1300 Bladensburg Rd NE, Washington,DC.
As usual, their lives/deeds/martyrdom was remembered at Noon on the Saturday nearest Nov 10th,with a Bible reading, prayers & the laying of red & white flowers upon their earthly resting places.
Both were hanged by the vengeful DAMNyankee government, by dishonorable men who were perfectly aware that they were murdering two totally INNOCENT people.
Mrs Surratt was hanged primarily because her son was NOT in the hands of the DAMNyankees & because she owned a boarding house, where John Wilkes Booth had once stayed.
CPT Henry Wirz, according to the serving Judge Advocate General of the US Army, was convicted & executed:
1. by an unlawful military tribunal,
2. which had NO authority whatever over any civilian (CPT Wirz had been a civilian for over 3 months, when arrested.),
3.upon perjured testimony, which was known by the members of "the court" at the time of his "trial",to be false,
4. of crimes that he neither committed nor was present, such that he could have committed, any crime charged against him,
5. was UNLAWFULLY sentenced to death by hanging, which was in itself an UNLAWFUL punishment for the crimes with which he stood accused,
6. was denied the solace of a priest of the Roman Catholic faith because Secretary Stanton was quoted as saying that Wirz "burns already in Hell",
7. was INTENTIONALLY "hauled up" rather than being dropped from the gallows, so that he would strangle slowly to death &
8. was denied a funeral (& his widow was not allowed to claim his body for a Catholic mass & burial) & (to quote a Union officer) "dumped without ceremony into an hole near the gallows". (CPT Wirz's body was later exhumed & properly interred at its present site.)
And anyone wonders WHY we Southrons say that the "merry band of thieves & war criminals surrounding lincoln" were nothing more than GARBAGE in semi-human form???

finally, (just in case you are interested in the TRUTH for once) Confederate Martyrs Day was proclaimed on November 10, 1979 by the Brigade of the District of Columbia, MD Division, of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, when we had a "full-dress" Confederate funeral (complete with artillery fire) for CPT Wirz. further The Washington Times,The Confederate Veteran magazine, The Southern Partisan magazine, WMAL & WBAL AM radio (& numerous other media outlets) covered the funeral, so it certainly was NO secret from anyone in the DC Metro area.
