But I know several homeschool people who are fond of Huckabee because of his public profession of his Christianity... and think that is enough.

The Rev. Jesse Jackson has professed his Christianity in public too, why not vote for him based on that logic?

The sad truth is that the blogger on Arkansas Journal is seemingly more in touch with the current state of the Republican Party in Arkansas than Huckabee. I have been very involved in Arkansas politics during the last ten years and Huckabee did everything BUT build the party. He appointed democrats to key positions, he name-called and tried to destroy any Republican legislator that dared to not support any part of his nanny-state agenda, and pulled our party apart by becoming such an outspoken liberal on so many issues.

There is a reason that when the rest of the South went Red, Arkansas remained Blue.

You’re welcome, AuntB. A friend sent me the link to the Ark Journal the other day and it seems like its author is doing a good job of keeping some pretty close tabs on Huckabee. For those of us in Arkansas who lived through Huckabee’s administration, it’s hard to believe that any true conservative is giving him a serious look for POTUS. Our party is pretty much non-existent today largely due to Huckabee’s actions over the last few years. It’s very sad and I’m not sure how long it will take the Arkansas Republican Party to rebuild.

Thanks for the heads up, EB. I’ll check the info out. Like I’ve been telling FReepers for months, if they are even remotely considering supporting Huckabee, then they need to talk with Arkansas conservatives before going any further. If one’s own state conservative party won’t put their support behind their own state’s candidate, how much bigger of a giant waving red flag does one need to see when considering the Huckster. FReepers beware! - OB1

This desperation is the biggest joke I've seen in a long time. Huckabee's been getting heat about not having the support of Arkansas legislators. He doesn't have the support of the average Arkansas Republican, either, or the average Arkansan, for that matter. The most remarkable number from the latest U 0f A poll is that Huck is only polling 8% in Arkansas. There's a reason for that, lots of them.

As a life-long conservative Arkansan, these are correct statements. The Huckster does not even have the conservative support of his own party in Arkansas. HEED THE WARNING, FREEPERS! - OB1
