“If anything they should be more open to civilian scrutiny, not less.”

Scrutiny is fine but what the kid does isn’t scrutinizing.

“I can not share your protective view of LEOs.”

My view isn’t a protective one, it’s respectful one. People whose job requires them to wear body armor and patrol the mean streets at 2AM tend to get my respect.

“What I saw/heard/read was a citizen do what was required and nothing more.”

Filming the encounter is required? Being in a closed commuter lot after hours is required? I’m not particularly fond of living in a society where people only do the absolute minimum that is required of them.

Its self protection. It busted a bad cop and cost the perp his badge. A very good thing.

It clearly was that night. I do similar things, especially when on my motorcycle, and I know others who do as well.

It is a sad thing that this is needed these days, but when LEOs won't police themselves, its up to the rest of us to expose the bad ones. The incident at a bar in CHI comes to mind of LEOs protecting themselves at the expense of the rest of us. We really don't need those kind of thugs as LEOs.
