Ya think?
If the kid wouldn't have been recording this, do you think he would have acted this way? Do you honestly believe a twenty-year-old uses turn signals?
If that was my son, I'd march him to the police station to make a personal and public apology to the officer. Idiot kid is asking for it.
The cop was doing his job. The kid got an attitude. The cop acted exactly the way I would expect any cop to act when spoken to that way.
The problem is, the camera was rolling -- probably another YouTube fame seeker. Because it's now public, I agree that the cop needs to be fired.
If you watch the video your question will be answered.
This kid has recorded cops in the past and is known for it in the local area.
This cop has had major issues in the past and should not be a LEO anywhere.
Good cops have nothing to fear from cameras.
Maybe, maybe not. But the video clearly shows him driving responsibly, including the use of turn signals.
APf
So you expect a cop to act in a way that merits firing any time someone asserts their constitutional rights?
Uh, no he wasn't. This guy was totally unprofessional, and knew damn well his tit got caught in the ringer. Regardless of what camera boy did, this cop needed to go apply for another job, one that does include power or control over others.
Er....Regardless of what camera boy did, this cop needed to go apply for another job, one that does NOT include power or control over others.
Is that how justice works in your world? Cops can act like little tyrants as long as it remains private? A good cop could handle the situation without swearing and inventing crimes, this wasn't a murder investigation.
Including invention of false charges?
I have a lot of friends in LOE, mostly State Troopers. I had a bad experience with a farm-town cop once. Dropped a dime on him to a buddy high up in the ranks and made the simpleton's life miserable for months.
Almost as good as anonymously reporting someone to the IRS for revenge purposes.
Your post makes no logical sense whatsoever.
Does that include threatening to make up charges? Is that how you want police to behave? There is a fine line between police work and bullying. This guy crossed it, and did it even though he knew there was a camera there. His attitude does not imply professionalism, just someone on a power trip.
I have seen officers be far more professional in far tougher situations than just shaking down a 20 year old. They earned my respect, this guy did not.
Are you confused? First you say you would require a public apology from your son to the officer....then you say the cop was just doing his job...then you say the cop should be fired? Is a field sobriety test in order?
BTW...I’m 18 years old and I use my turn signals. As a matter of fact I obey the traffic laws.
Congratulations. Since the purge, you are biggest fool on FR.
“The cop acted exactly the way I would expect any cop to act when spoken to that way.”
So, let’s get this straight: you are saying it’s okay for LEOs to charge people with offenses that they did not commit just because that person gives them an attitude?
I can’t wait to see your response to this — if you are willing to respond.
I have family and friends in law enforcement = cops like this are the rotten apples in the barrel - This cop is certifiable
Yes. Do you have anymore STUPID questions?
You couldn’t be more wrong.
Then hopefully you have no children. Outrageous that you condone a police officer threatening to make up false charges and that you would attempt to blame it on someone else. This is the officer's responsiblity and no one elses - he should have been fired and thank goodness he was.
wow...
As if that had anything to do with this incident or the lack of professionalism this LEO exhibited.
This is something I would expect when watching "In the heat of the night" with some gum chewing, slack jawed moron with a badge.
This LEO needed to come across someone that was audio/video wired.
The problem is, the camera was rolling -- probably another YouTube fame seeker. Because it's now public, I agree that the cop needs to be fired.
With cameras getting cheaper and smaller all the time, and with the notoriety this incident has received, citizen recordings are likely to become MUCH MORE common.
It would behoove our public servants to be on their best behavior. Otherwise, they'll end up like the unfortunate ex-Officer Kuehnlein.
