ST. GEORGE A police officer who was recorded berating a motorist earlier this month has lost his job.
The board of aldermen voted 5-0, with one member absent, to fire Sgt. James Kuehnlein on Monday. The vote was cast in a session closed to the public and wasn't announced until Wednesday, when a notice was posted at the City Hall of this tiny south St. Louis County community.
In a video that got wide viewership on the Internet, Kuehnlein taunts and threatens motorist Brett Darrow, 20, sometimes shouting and using profanity, after questioning him in a commuter lot near Interstate 55. Darrow posted the footage of the Sept. 7 incident on the web.

*UPDATE*
Sunday I went out to my car and I saw a St. Louis City police car camped out at the bottom of my street dead end street. As I got into the car, he started to pull up the street and him and his partner just stared me down. They stopped again at the top of my dead end street. I started up the car and turned around. As I did this, they took off making a right from my street. I followed. I realized it was on Night Shot mode and flipped it to regular and zoomed in on them trying to get away from me. They ran a red light when they made a right turn by not stopping, then flipped a U-turn knowing I couldn’t. As I came around the corner, they looked at me again, and quickly took off.

Then this morning (Monday), I get a call from a St. Louis County detective that has supposedly been asked by the prosecutors office to investigate the possible assault by the officer. I went in to talk with them at 1PM.
The detectives hadn’t seen the tape yet even though they had a copy. That really surprised me and I wondered why not. There questions weren’t even about what happened on that parking lot. They just wanted to know why I was going to the parking lot, what I had done before, and what I had done after this. They even want my Camera so a tech person can look at it and pull up the useless footage from before and after.
Then they got into the deal about it being uploaded off site. I told them it wasn’t true. They then asked if I thought it was a good idea to lie to a police officer. I said, with this officer, HELL YES! He wasn’t a police officer, but a raving lunatic that was going to beat me, arrest me, and maybe kill me that night for no reason. Then he threaten to steal my camera, I had to do something.
I quickly learned that this was about finding something I did wrong and not the officer.
They wanted to take a picture of the camera which I agreed to since it shows how big it is, but then they pressed again about it uploading and wanted to check in the trunk. I told them no. To me, this seemed like they were trying to figure out how to beat my system in the future and spread it around the local LEO community. Well they have a big surprise coming next time they stop me. They’re stupid to think I would just keep using the same thing I currently do.
So I’m going to get a hold of the media again and let them know what is up.
I’ll keep you guys up to date when I can.

I’m fixin’ to crank up a new thread on this.
Good idea.
I would expect him to say no differently. Which is why I didn't ask.
Which is a traffic violation. RP told you that you are playing a "dangerous game", but the only dangerous game I see is the cops breaking the law and risking the public safety, precisely the opposite of what they are supposed to be doing.
So much for principles; "You have no right to this information -- unless you yell at me."
Just tell the truth (since it seems you have all the answers) -- by that time the punk had what he needed on tape.
Meaning what? The truth is what the majority says it is?
Thank God none of us is your son. It's one thing to want to lick jackboots yourself. It's another to make your children do so too.
The cop was doing his job
Harassing and intimidating citizens and threatining with false charges is his job? People like you moved back to England after the revolution. But now I guess you can move to North Korea or Cuba if you like the way this cop acted. The cops there all think like this guy did.
What does "where he works" have to do with the content of his posts? You guys and your personal attacks, turning this board into DU.
That's apples and oranges all right. I never said the punk did anything wrong. Did I?
He wasted the cop's time (actually two cops) by being uncooperative. That's the point.
It wasn't a waste of time. He got the retard cop's badge...
I live in NYC an around 1993 I was walking in mid town where grid lock happens and I saw this officer in a mini car he was blocking traffic and I happen to comment to him he was causing grid lock.
There was a time you could speak your opinion and not get ruffled from them.
I never did this before but it was obvious the thing they were trying to prevent they were causing some drivers to get caught in the grid!
He came over wanted my ID ete. and got real tuff and threaten to lock up somewhere no one could find me!
It was an intense time!
No, you just made a comparioins to your dope threads, which is disengenuous at best.
You also claim Brett's behavior was wrong though not illegal. Please try and keep your story straight
Meaning that those you took you up on your request to review the tape and transcript so they would agree with you. However, like the vast majority of us, they found Brett in the right and the perp in the wrong. They found that Brett was not mouthing off. They found your "truth" to be a lie.
Baloney. The claims in both are "wasting the cop's time when they could be going after 'real' criminals".
"You also claim Brett's behavior was wrong though not illegal"
I did? Where? I said it was dangerous, yes.
"Please try and keep your story straight"
Hello, pot? Meet kettle.
Meaning what? The truth is what the majority says it is? -RP
Isn't this your main argument in all the WOD threads?
Please, please, try to carry out your threat. You might want to have your affairs in order first, punk.
