Ladies and Gentlemen, I wish that every one of you had been with Fred4Prez and me this morning to have breakfast with Fred.
It was a packed house at The Barn Door as everyone grabbed a plate for the $100 buffet and headed for the best seats to wait for Fred.
Many prominent citizens and local notables were there, including the mother of Sen. Cornyn, District Attorney Susan Reed, and Mrs. Fred Thompson, who worked the room before Fred's arrival. She was beautiful and poised, shaking everyone's hand and making sure she checked your nametag and called you by name.
And then there was Fred. Taller and more slender in person, he is a man who commands attention and knows how to enter a room.
He connected right away, referring to his hometown of Lewisburg, TN, where Davy Crockett's quote is on the courthouse wall: "Make sure you're right, then go ahead."
He said he followed Crockett to the Alamo and has many fond memories here since his daughter Betsy lived in New Braunfels, 30 mi. north of SA. He and Jeri were up early to speak with their 4-year-old daughter and check on their 11-month-old son.
This, he said, is the reason for his decision to run for President. What are we leaving behind for our children and grandchildren? This is the greatest country in the world and we're in danger of losing that. It's their legacy and we have to protect it; defend it.
That's when he told us the one objective we must have for this war: that everyone should know, friend or foe, that we will not back down and we will not be divided.
He noted that budget deficits are causing big problems and mentioned China, in particular. That the Social Security surplus will be gone, probably in about 10 years.
He touched on his history as an attorney and prosecutor, that he entered the movies playing himself. He spoke of being involved in Watergate. He said if he 'wanted' to be POTUS he'd have done it a long time ago!
He is convinced that to fix these things it will take a monumental group effort and that he's the man to see that it happens. That when government does 'everything for you' it can just as easily take 'everything from you.'
Hmmm...I’d imagine they’d set off quite a few alarms if they did!
It was a dumb thing to do, I think, standing around the parking lot and off the shoulder of the road.
I’d say it was carefully planned, as the room really wouldn’t hold many more people. There was ‘overflow’ into an adjoining room, but it wasn’t as full as the big room.
Yikes! Rocky liked the .357 so much, I think I’d better stick with a .38. Can qualify and interchange the bullets.
My SIL got her CCW just before their visit in August. She was first in her class.
You can stick with your preference for the qualifying and still check out the bigger guns :D
I wont insist...I’d just enjoy having you shoot one of mine :)
If you can tell me what to expect, I may do that! I really want to get Ted Bonnet to teach me but I can’t afford it with the wedding stuff...
They kick, but if you brace yourself properly, it’s not too bad. :)
I think it’s the reverberating through the chest that gets me.
That’s pretty nifty, Frou.
Thank you, Pissant! I got all spiffed up and I wish ALL FReepers could’ve been there!
Of course, we’d have needed a bigger room!!!
Yeah, I reckon you would. Lotsa Fredheads here.
Don’t get me wrong. I’m still a big fan of Hunter’s and Tancredo’s. I hope in the end we’ll see 2 of them on the ticket. I don’t know why I don’t care much for Mutt.
Thanks for the report.
You should have invited Fred to the gun range.
A packed house, eh? Gee, Little Dickie Morris just told us that Fred isn't fundraising well and isn't doing well at all.....(rolling eyes!)
Right on. I was there to meet him in Houston last night and he was just as impressive. Speaking of China: Fred’s going to use that subject to great advantage over Hillary. He knows where the old Raidy-related skeletons are buried, and he’s going to ambush her when she least expects it.
This is what I’m counting on from Fred. I am confident that he can rattle her really big-time!
“When government does everything for you, it can just as easily take everything from you.”
Beautiful.
I got an equally beautiful phone pledge in the mail today from Fred. Yes, I’m in for another ‘centime.’
Ripley, you’re spot-on about Hitlery Clinton.
