“we should double or triple the number of immigrants allowed on an annual basis with our friends from Mexico.”

The author makes no distinction between legal and illegal immigration. In the current context, this is a call to violate US laws. I cannot condone this incitement to lawlessness. It shows a lack of respect for America and Americans. It probably stems from concerns about differences in wealth. Coveting the wealth of others is a sin that is common among the left, even the religious left. It is a sin that has proved harmful to individuals and nations alike. This is a foolish and morally wrong message, and should be repudiated by all Catholics. Their concern should be for lost souls. Maybe that concern no longer motivates them.

I’m sure Mexicans are good people. But why can’t they be good people in Mexico? One must answer this question correctly if one is to truly help Mexicans.

Why Can’t they be good people in Mexico?
Because the system there is so completely corrupt that they can barely feed their kids.
Doesn’t make it right that they come HERE,thats for sure. But any movement to”change”Mexico would probably be a Marxist movement like the Zapatistas or the insurgents last year in Oaxaca.
Very little middle ground. The average Mexican is either faced with trying to eke out a living in Mexico, join a “revolutionary”movement or migrate to El Norte.

Never before in our history have so many immigrants come from one country. This goes against assimilation and will harm our nations identity. It also harms our ability to bring other immigrants from other countries.

Well said! His message is not a Catholic-based one, but a corruption of it. The pro-amnesty Bishops have gotten corrupted and greedy by their own agenda of filling pews, not asking the questions of why those pews have to be filled in America instead of in Mexico.
