I just don’t see any potential profit for him, except for some attaboys from Fidel and a bumper crop of bomb craters.

I was responding to the meaning behind the words. The report itself may be unverified, but his comment was a gut reaction to a generalization about his country. Too much of that goes on here. Someone did the same last week to the same poster and someone else made offensive comments to a French freeper. I just want people to think before they post.

well, we’ve got one South American news agency reporting it

another source would be nice, but for the purposes of discussion, particularly in light of the UK/Iran crisis, it would be nice to keep this on the forefront

Far too quiet for my liking.

The public are hopeless, and the only demo we have had, is the few brave souls who protested outside of the foreign office (for tougher actions), and they were bloody iranians.

Slowly but surely they are getting more and more angry, but newspaper editors seem intent every step of the way ruling out military action.

From my own personal perspective, I’m extremely angry, extremely frustrated and at the same time gutted at how weak and pathetic we look.

Update: sources in Venezuela have just confirmed to me that the 31 US citizens are not in jail but have been ‘asked’ by the military to not leave the compound where they were.

No kidding. The bluster seen on FR over the Brit hostage crisis has been comical, since it’s clear that Dubya and the USA wouldn’t have done anything different at all.

This will be interesting. A good time to overthrow Chavez and his Citgo mafia.

They are probably a group of lefty medic and moonbat missionary types. Since they were there on their oown they can stay there. Anyone who travels to a country hostile to their home country is taking their chances.

Has Rosie explained that it’s another US effort to trump up a war with Venezuela?

Big difference here. Your guys are military acting on behalf of your country. The Yanks in Venezuala were there of their own bleeding heart accord. I wouldnt want our government to do a thing.

I agree that people should be fair and balanced, and I don't claim that I have never crossed the line. But just like we should criticize our own leaders when they fail, so should we criticize our allies' leaders when they do so. And if someone feels with reason that the UK is further off the mark than the US, then I believe that's a fair comment to make as well (and I'm a huge anglophile). As for the French... well, I like a lot of the individual French people I've met but there is absolutely nothing good that I can find to say about their governing elite.

I agree with you. Criticizing the leadership is not only fine, but necessary.

Most of these 3rd world medical miracle workers are very elite and rabid rats.

So let Nancy Piglosi stop there after her visit to set up fund drives for the Rats in Syrtia and set these liberals free.

She and her buddy, the communist dictator/leader will get along great. They both agree that President Bush is worse than Hitler.

Now we see the wisdom, years ago of our MI groups banning any of us from joining the peace corp and preventing members of the peace corp from becoming one of us.
