White House Counsel Harriet Miers, the Supreme Court nominee who withdrew after a conservative revolt last fall, has allegedly vetoed several recommendations offered by conservatives to fill vacancies on federal courts.
The White House would not directly respond to the charge, which was made this morning during a conference call with more than 40 conservative leaders. Two people on the callwhose identities I promised to keep confidentialsaid they had inside knowledge of the recommended nominees whom Miers nixed.

Oh yeah, yeah. Unnamed sources, blah, blah, blah.
Were he able to run in 2008, I would again be willing to vote for him..
There is however, no clothespin large enough to cover the stench of McCain.
Frankly, I can't believe all of the unfounded accusations here.

Miers is in the loop for sure, let's see what develops - at some point, specific names of possible candidates who were rejected will surface.
I'm thinking of changing my named to Unnamed Sources and moving to Washington DC, right next door to a friend who changed his name to "Senior Administration Officials."
I was being a little facetious there.
Don't need any land in the Everglades, though. Too many bugs and gators for my taste. :)
LOL! Got ya.
I hear Karl Rove is going to use the judges issue to fire up the base, I wonder which base he is talking about? The base that actually wins elections for Republicans? Karl Rove knows who to turn to...:)
I hear Rove's strategy is to waive Nancy Pelosi dolls at us in order to scare the base back into line.
To withdraw means to have been asked to pack it in. In D.C. it is a way of falling on your sword without drawing blood. You don't tell any President of the U.S. that you won't step down. Not only is it bad form but it costs you for the rest of your career.
Harriett was booted, pure, plain and simple.
And you jacklegs have to continue to revel in it, over and over and over and over and over.
Bush gets rid of her, and some of the unappeaseables STILL hold it against him.
The getting rid of her was the right thing for the President to do. I'm not aware of anyone holding that against him.
I am surprised at how much you "W" Kool Aid drinkers are so bound to the President even as he continues to show utter scorn for the conservative political movement in America. You find criticism where none is intended.
Actually, we're not.
"If Miers is screening out conservatives, she must be letting liberals get through."
Is this intended to serve as an example of your awesome powers of analysis? Sorry, but it simply doesn't compute. You simply cannot be this dense.
Then again, maybe you are. As I recall, you do belong to the RINO party-above-principle wing of the GOP.
I can understand your thinking I was dense, however, since you still don't get it.
She is still causing trouble.
Tell that to Porter Goss.
Of course, he has also been loyal to those which appear to have thick plastic valises holding 900+ raw FBI files on the Republicans...
