For years Canada was known as the sleeping giant to the north of us, a huge expanse of red splashed across a world map where so many countries had ties to a red Great Britain.
Mexico was always a neutral color on the Mercator Projection which hung in our schoolrooms, and was thought of as our sleepy neighbor to the south, though today it no longer appears quite so neutral.

Good article. Thanks for posting this. I used to go to Tijuana to get prescription medication, but no more. I certainly didn't drive my car through there, and we were out before sundown. Never made to to the tourist spots like Cancun and Cabo.

Mexico is actually a very beautiful place and has everything it needs to be a first world country. It'll never happen though as long as corruption is the norm.
You mean as long as its Mexican.
It's up to them to change their culture of corruption. If we sealed the borders maybe that would happen faster.
It would, at the very least, force them to seriously address their problems.
It's time they did, build the fence.

Mexico is practically feudal in it's outlook.
