It is one of the reasons that liberals have been able to dominate politics for decades. Conservatives are
not joiners and are natural skeptics. Conservatives are independent. Liberals are much more likely to herd and feel the need or to have a need to be able to depend on someone to make up for their feelings of inadequacy or to tell them what to think.
It sure makes it harder to rally the troops in an effort to dig our way out of the hole.
Ping your friends and ask them to take The Pledge.
Healthy skepticism is good. Too many conservatives seem to me to be skittish which may be also due to feelings of inadequacy as well as a healthy fear of 'group-think.'
I have no feelings of inadequacy and no friends.
Hmmmm, is there a pattern there? And, if so, whose pattern is it? ;^p
