Hate to rain on your parade, but the Columbia River Gorge was formed in a single, catastrophic flood caused by the breakup of an ice dam. Such events are not uncommon in our geologic past. We can't know for sure how many years it took to carve out the Grand Canyon, we just know it cut through some very old strata.

BUT - biblical "scholars" need to understand what is meant by "Ha Eretz." It is most probable that it never means the entire planet as many think it does. If you had lived in Egypt, you would have longed to return to Ha Eretz.

There is a big difference between a localized "single, catastrophic flood" and the YEC "global" flood that resulted mainly from rain. If the global flood was true, it would have left the world buried in debris and sludge, filling every canyon in the world.
