Honestly? Being a part of DU is a lot more work. You have to consider different sides of the issues and do some serious thinking for yourself here. This is too damn funny!

They [Freepers] are a cohesive whole. We are not. We're a cohesive whole? ..lol. Evidently that DUmmy hasn't spent much time lurking over here.

44. Don't personally visit there, but some of the posts I've seen listed
here seem to indicate that most of the activity on there is not at all intellectual. Their purpose appears to be to either bash the Clintons, Gore, Kerry or bully anyone who doesn't accept on faith the neocon plans for our country. Mostly the postings usually have many mispelled words and it is obvious a lot of the people do not read or try to become informed.

I have a friend who is a loyal and liberal democrat. He signed up in DU. In one thread he disagreed with the thread and got banned. :)
The funny part is, a week later, the democats including Carville began saying the same thing my friend posted and it became the "phrase of the week".
The DU eats their own. That's a good thing :)

This just reinforces my position that if you want to know what liberal ninnies are doing or thinking of doing, just listen to that of which they are accusing others. They're not hard to figure out.

I thought you might like that one! :-)
That view dovetails nicely with their belief that the majority of Americans are just too dumb to function at the level of liberal Dems. The problem is, they just can't keep their mouths shut about it. One day I'll combine about three or four DU threads I've bookmarked into a monster post here which shows their disdaim for America. It simply oozes from their pores.

And I know a few DUers who are brave enough to visit from time to timeooooooohhhhh ... it's sooo scary here at the FR!
To: dukeman
Actually it's quite obvious.
Reason 1: Generally the more affluent are conservative. Thus, when there's a freepathon, more money is given than there is if DU has anytype of fundraiser. More money equals a better infrastructure, making it a more welcomed place to be. (DU's interace looks like the BBSes i used to dial into that were run on Commodore 64s)
Reason 2: They'll just never get this one. There are just more conservatives in the U.S. than there are liberals. Liberals are shrill hate mongers. They only care about ramrodding ideas down people's throats via the MSM. Conservatives take a more diplomatic approach to getting their point across. (Which has been a weakness of ours at times.
Reason 3: And this one floors me. You can't sign up to DU if you have a yahoo, gmail, msn, address. They won't let you on if you have a "Free" email addy. Free Republic lets anybody on.

the 'other side' is allowed to go 'full court press' with their views/tactics. That is why they (unfortunately) remain in power Yeah, that's the reason. Couldn't be because more people agree with us than you? Nah ... that's too far fetched.

I wonder how PO'd they will get when they discover it posted over here?

Here's why Freerepublic is so big and the DU so irrevelent. If Freerepublic was as quick to ban or censure posters as the DU. I'd have been banned long ago when I posted about how I do not support Bush's Illegal Alien Plan or when I have complained that we are not giving all we could to fight this war on terror due to PC.
Because Freerepublic allows those who have opposite opinions, we are able to excercise and sharpen our arguements for whatever we believe just like is done on AM Radio.
The DU...they are not heavywieghts because they never allow themselves to get involved with challenging dissagreements. They deny themselves the exercise needed to sharpen their political points so when they go on a Hannity & Colmes or call into an AM Talk radio station their weak arguments get blown apart almost instantly.

Your friend's story reminds me of the experience of an Italian woman (screenname Hudobna) who registered here after the election. She writes very lyrically. Just check some her posts. Anyway, I saw on DU where she was asking questions and debating some points. They immediately swarmed her like gnats. They accused her of being a freeper, to which she said "What's a freeper?" Zingo! That's all the proof they needed. She ended up here and found it much friendlier.

No kidding. Especially the nonsense about FReepers not wanting to read and learn anything. I guess the folks over at DU fail to pay attention to the New York Times Bestsellers list: In just a little under five years, books authored by Conservatives or those like Bernard Goldberg who have the same concerns for America's sovereignty and decency have far outsold books written by 'Mainstream' or translated: Liberal authors.

Maybe because we allow all sorts of different perspectives to be stated instead of screaming hate at anyone who posts a different percept that does not agree with the DNC's latest Talking point. You can basically turn a DU's types post on their heads. They "love" diversity as long as it states exactly what the DNC tells them to think.
I challenge anyone on DU to prove there is more "diversity" over there. Where are the Pro-Iraq DUers???? We got clique of Anti-Iraq Freepers. Where are the DU Free Traders? Drill in Anwar DU's, Pro-Military? Pro Death Penalty, Pro-Gun Rights? Anti-Abortion Du's? Pro I.D., Pro Patriot act? Pro Bush DUs?. Free Republic has people who argue passionately on either side of those issues. DU is all monochrome Face it DU your an clique of emotional needy, intellectually bankrupt political bigots who are incapable of any growth of thought patterns.

Yeah, you can always spot them. They post one of their usual emotional tirades, get a half dozen response that prove where they are wrong, go into full flaming hate spew because Freepers don't immediately fall all over themselves recognizing the "genius" of the DUer "vision".
What was that definition of insanity? Doing the same thing over and over but expecting different results each time?
