I love to watch Blade Runner, love the look of it all, but it's really bad. :') I plan to get my old VHS of the release version made into a DVD one of these days. (':

Let me add an oldie but goodie:
Forbidden Planet (1956) Leslie Nielsen, Anne Francis, Walter Pidgeon.
I also really like Bladerunner, Enemy Mine, The Fifth Element, The Postman (probably mostly cause I liked the book), Tron, THX1138, Farenheit 451 (and a number of others!)

RoboCop ... hand's down!! Love the humor and the action. Plus the guy from "That's 70's Show" is still the best villian ever, after Hans Grubber in "Die Hard".

Back to the Future, yeah I love that series. Just pure entertainment.
Independence Day, another I've got on disk and watch periodically. Like the comedic, send-up stuff in it, but it's also inspirational.
Men in Black, another fun one, although I really was disappointed by the sequel.
Total Recall, also have that one, really enjoy it, but it's lousy dialogue, the plot falls apart at a touch, and the three or four page PKD story on which it's based blows it away.
Running Man, also fun, like RoboCop, a bit of a poking of fun at a lot of things.
Demolition Man, lots of fun, lots of gore, humorous.

Forgot about Tron...that movie was way ahead of its time. (and the video game was not so bad either).

HAHAHAHAHA ... I just tried to download this move (it's free because it's public domain) but couldn't find it anywhere.
Internet Archive had removed it for some reason.
Is "Day of the Triffids" a Sci-fi or thriller?

Thanks for the info--James Hong is a wonderful character actor. I like character actors better than stars by a long shot.

Soylent Green was based on a novel by SF writer Harry Harrison called "Make Room! Make Room!"...I would absolutely call it Science Fiction.

You know ? this looks so much like something from the movie Sky captain and the World of tomorrow, did they intend for parts of Sky Captain to look like the movie Metropolis ?

Starship Troopers? Awful, but if seen as a send up of sci-fi, somewhat okay.

2001: A Space Odyssey? I'm with you ... I didn't like this movie at all. I rented it a few years ago, because of all the hype and I found it pretty boring. HAL was cool though.

"Colossus: The Forbin Project" -- the only time before this that I'd heard of it, and the only time I've seen it, was for a film appreciation class in college. Interesting deviation from, say, James T. Kirk's many confrontations with engineered societies. :')
