You're not kidding about the ads today.

I've been listening to a show about advertising on the radio, and they have been playing all those old, great ads.

"Mama-mia! That's a spicy meatball"..........What do you think of?

"You'll wonder where the yellow went,......" Hmm?

Did you know that the "We've only just begun, to live...." song by the Carpenters was taken from an advertising jingle?

Cool, huh?

Yah..I used to have Carpenters albums...I lost custody of them in my divorce. I even lost the original album of the "Tommy" Opera. Not the one by the Who, but the one with Tina Turner and Richie Havens, and Ringo...*sob-sob*

The first one I think might have been for Pepto-bismol. It was definitely an antacid.

The second was Pepsodent toothpaste. There's a song from the late 50s, kind of jazzy vocalese style on that jingle.

I don't remember who did the We've only just begun one.

I also liked the "I can't believe I ate the whole thing" campaign.

One that has stuck in my head since I was six or seven was for Neet dipilatory:

The jingle went "Shave lady?" (to a woman sitting in a barber chair"

"Don't do it!" (the barber's drape is whisked away."

And as she dances off into happily ever after land, the jingle continues, "Cream hair away the beautiful way with Neet. N-E-E-T Neet!"

Why I would remember this since I was a kid, I have no idea.
