Anoreth wants light blue for her bedroom, and that might work for the schoolroom, too. I don't want it to clash with the dining room and kitchen. Wow, that's Yellow!

In the south it is the only way to enjoy the outdoors in summer, without leaving the house.

Figuring out how I wanted to do it was more work that doing it. Working within the constraints of the existing deck (which I had expanded from the builder's 10X14 to over 450 sq ft), and the height of the roof at the eave, I decided on a straight roof with a 1 to 14 pitch. I have 7 3/4 ft of head room at the eave and 6 1/2 feet at the edge. But this kept me from having to tie into the roof which is L shaped at the rear of the house. Plenty of room and comfy.

quitting smoking helped my dad immensely....
He was able to lose 20 lbs or so and had more energy than he used too....

I'm thinking the south face of my home is the best location for an enclosed porch, but the roof ridge is aligned N-S so it'd look goofy... plus it'd occlude the south window of my bedroom.
that leaves the West (front) face of the house.
the roof is at @28degree slope, so I'd have to make the porch roof extension at a lesser angle or it'd look like a cave mouth.
plus, there's a big-ass OAK just north of the front door, which would make a west porch a south-side only affair
*sigh*
there's no rush.
