Wow.
You're lucky then. Good thing your immune system kicked in when it did.
Hope you feel better soon.

I can't figure out the big waste of time that represents the first link, but the second one was funny. Thanks.

I feel pretty good now.

I'll feel more so when my WBC is back to within the normal zone.

Well, SOME of it is stupid, some of it is mildly humorous, and some of it is truly dark humor.

I think I liked "guess who?" the best. Very dark.
Although "I found something" has to be a close second, but only because you have to look carfeully to see the "something" that is under the ground.

Okay, one thing here-
YEAH MOM!
Geez, man, last time I broke 20k wbc, I was in the Critical Care Unit of Gwinnett Medical Center!
Remember the sensation, label it as 'possible impending death' and get thee to thine physician, ok? If you make me get on an airplane I want it to be for a happy reason, ok?
(stepping off soap box)

Glad you feel better!
Doc

oh, I called it "possible impending death" at the time, but was under the impression that all I had to do was keep my temp under control and keep hydrated... and I DID that.

Doc didn't fall for the puppy-dog eyes when I told her that, either.

"...wouldn't the year-round increase of highly reflective white groundcover lead to a drop in global tempreatures, leading to a true glaciation of real (cold) snow?"

One would think so. But it turns out that it really isn't much of a factor.

Remember that the Earth is mostly ocean. Even with complete coverage on the land, most incoming sunlight arrives on, and warms, the ocean.

The primary trigger, the thinking now goes, for a new ice-age, is an abrupt change or discontinuation of ocean currents.

Allegedly, excessive cold fresh water gets dumped into the Atlantic near Labrador, where it interferes with the deep ocean current because it reduces the salt content.

Where does the cold water come from? From the sudden appearance of meltwater at the bottom of a glacier, which then slides readily into the ocean. A melting brought on by ... you guessed it -- Global Warming!

Unfortunately, elegant as this theory may be, it does not quite concur with the geological record, and the astronomical coincidence of interstellar dustclouds on a regular galactic orbit.

Imperial Weatherman out.

She was probably thinking of Jim Henson.

Take good care of yourself, guy. None of us wants the job.

I enjoyed that story, Bob. Of course, one never knows the power one will have when one has creative ideas. One could even build a world of one's own...or a castle...and people it with humanoids...even.
