Support CAFTA to reduce illegal immigration.

One of the best ways to solve the illegal immigration problem over the long term is to reduce the incentive to come to the U.S. The way to do that is to promote freedom and economic prosperity within our hemisphere. The Central American Free Trade Agreement or CAFTA will help spread prosperity. It amazes me that opponents of illegal immigration are often vehemently against CAFTA. Hopefully the Congress will pass this measure and follow up with stronger measures to protect the borders.

Here are two resources for further reading on CAFTA:

Ofcourse in order to believe this one would have to believe that the only illegals come from Central America and not from Egypt or Canada.

Send OUR jobs down there, so they don't have to be bothered with coming up here?

I don't think going for or against CAFTA is going to fix the illegal immigration issue.

If you WANT to modify laws or statutes to "fix" illegal immigration, make it SO expensive for the employers that the possible benefits to hiring an illegal are outweighed by the penalties. Something like fines that no business could weather and stay afloat and/or jailtime at a first offense.

Draconian sure, but it is probably the easiest and cheapest way to do so.

What total stupidity. CAFTA will be the final nail in the US coffin. The borders are going to be open between Canada, Mexico, the US and Central America. The illegal immigration issue will not exist because all of the people who live in this hemisphere will be legal citizens of the North American Union.

Also, there will be a board of politicans who are not Americans who will be appointed to monitor each country, and if there are any attempts to close the border, the country will be taken to court by not allowing free passage of trade. This is hell in the making, and any politician who votes for it should be kicked out of office.

NAFTA and CAFTA are the means which the dogooders of this world will use to redistribute America's wealth to the pest holes of the hemisphere. Any American who falls for this free trade crap deserves what is coming on him.

Congress should vote NO on CAFTA. A sovereignty give away under the disguise of "free" trade.

Something like fines that no business could weather and stay afloat and/or jailtime at a first offense.

And making an example of three or four would work wonders.

I'm fine, just restless. Sensation in my leg is awakening and it itches. My left femur snapped in two.

But, hey. I'm still breathing. That's saying something after being hit on the driver's side by a Dodge Ram 2500 doing 65 MPH in a 35. That's what I'm told. I don't remember it.

Ouch.

Itching is actually a good sign. (I figure I'm like the 200th person to tell you this) Means you're healing!

I'm *really* glad to hear you are feeling better. That's a very frightening situation you just went through. Had one of my femurs snap in two long ago. Skiing accident. Keep that leg up, propped with pillows. How long are "they" anticipating your mending processing?

I'm told six to eight months. I'm gonna beat that, though. No way in hell can I remain like this for that long.

There's "getting mobile" and then there's "Being completely healed".

HOPEFULLY, they'll get you out of the wheel-chair in a few weeks.

And yeah, I do believe you'll beat that number they gave you!

:-)

Yeah. I know what you mean. I was in a cast -- the old clunky kind -- for almost a year. My leg had to be re-broken mid-term. Are you in a full leg cast? Walker cast? On crutches still? Are you aware of what a lethal weapon you have there on your leg? Let your enemies beware. I still pitched a season of softball. You learn to adjust. The worst, the absolute worst part? "How'd you break your leg". Let me help you out on that one..

It's not broken.. it's just resting.
