July 18 is the day when everybody forgot that June 16 was THE DAY WHEN EVERYTHING FINALLY CHANGED!

BTW, I am NOT forgetting that from now on, June 16 is officially Pied Piper Pitt Day.

Ironically for Pitt, May 17 is the real day when everything changed.

I call May 17, "The Day the Dam Broke."

I'll second the recommendation about using and Ethernet port instead of the USB. Ethernet cards are dirt cheap these days, and the connection is more "efficient" than using USB. USB uses more processor power and I have found that it makes for more glitches and crashes than using an ethernet port.

If he wants to stay cheap, he could forgo the hardware firewall/router and install Zone Alarm, which is pretty good.

Let me check my handy Karl Rove Wall Kalendars and see what new DUmmie holidays are being added:

May 17, The Day the Dam Broke (Pitt's Brief Moment of Mental Clarity)

June 16, THE DAY WHEN EVERYTHING FINALLY CHANGED! (Pied Piper Pitt Day)

July 7, The Commemoration of St. Andy of the DUmp, Martyr

July 18, The Day of Possible Indictment (The Day When Everyone Forgot That June 16 Was THE DAY WHEN EVERYTHING FINALLY CHANGED!)

There's not enough hooch in the entire south to make sense of that mess!

PJ, I don't normally comment, but always read and enjoy...hope you get everything worked out.

If you're going to spend the money for a router...get one that can be used with a wireless card.

I'm with you Ree. My whole family is now wireless. I can FReep and cook, if I ever wanted to cook. I can sit outside and even get some fresh air. Linksys wireless G is a staple in our house!

Exactly! I'll predict that it will rain today...or tomorrow. OR that it will be hot and sunny. Hm...that makes me 100% right no matter what happens! Wow, I can predict the future!

That was more a comment on the rest of the DUmmies, actually, how they're treating Andy over there, like he's some sort of saint--and a martyr, because we killed him.

I understand what you're saying, though. And I have held off on any Andy jokes, for over a week now. This was the closest I've come, and it was not really about Andy himself.

But some serious issues remain and some new concerns have arisen, specifically the DUers' baseless murder accusations and even death threats against FReepers. See the thread, The DUmmie "William Pitt".

Basic logic flaw here: Let's assume for a moment that astrology does work. If it does work, the administration would know it works -- after all, Nancy Reagan used astrologers with regard to helping President Reagan, when he was in office.

Now, as I understand it -- and my wife is somewhat into this stuff -- astrology indicates trends and warns when there may be danger, but it is not destiny. If you know what is going to happen, you can at least partially prepare for it.

Therefore, if there is anything to astrology, the Bush administration knows about any forthcoming periods of crisis had taken steps to minimize the impact.

Even if there is something to astrology, we are not helpless with regard to destiny. Like with a hurricane, we can take steps to protect ourselves against oncoming disaster.... Or maybe that's just something that my chart says I have to believe.

You got me wondering. I just bought a computer last week (Emachine from Best Buy), which I'm busy setting up. It comes with firewall, but I don't know if I need it with a plain modem.

I must have a communal mentality. Did everyone buy computers this week? Or was I somehow tuned into some cosmic force?

Should have checked my astrological chart.

You're right that PJ could go cheap and just use Zonealarm on his computer but it takes effort to keep that updated and malicious software has been known to attack software firewalls.

Under normal circumstances, I might agree that a software firewall might be sufficient but PJ has too many enemies for just a sufficient solution; he needs something better. The hardware router/firewall is the way to go for $50.

I wish -- but with no birthtime, these houses are unlikely to be accurate.

These people are Hegelian-Marxist-postmodern-liberal-Democrats. How can they speak about accuracy of astrological crapcharts? It is unbelievable, but I guess it is par for he course since these folks have no anchor in an empirical reality.
