Zagor-te-nej,

That same source (Catholic Encyclopedia) lists the "Mohameddan" population of Bosnia-Herzogovina as 35%, which is probably a little more accurate than saying that 98% of the region is composed of Slavic Serbs. The 98% figure doesn't even pass the Common Sense Test - if there are so few of them, why were they able to put up such a lengthy fight and control so much territory?

My own feeling is that this particular part of the former Yugoslavia is a MIXED REGION, composed of roughly equal parts of competing ethnicities, cultures, and religions. The Serbs saw their chance after the breakup of Yugoslavia to consolidate their power, and they took it.

Believe me, I'm NOT trying to defend radical Islamism, and the fact that the Bosnians fell back on this philosophy, and may have been so warped by it as to plant bombs in London (though this has yet to be proved) is worrisome to me. But I think it's a fair assesment to say the Serbs WERE the aggresors in this particular Balkan war, and they WERE trying to eliminate the Bosnian Muslims as a people. Regardless of how you or I may feel about Muslims, that kind of thing MUST NOT STAND.
