People buy diesels not due to political ideology but due to fuel economy.
The TDI engine has fuel economy AND acceleration, which people look for in a car especially with gas prices going up again.

Read your history. Volkswagen was hijacked by Hitler it was not his brain storm. His syphillis ridden mind could not have come up with something that ingenuous. Plus that is history 50 years past.
