I explained the safety valve to them. When they said they were scared about this blowing up, I assumed they were going to the Feds on it. I jumped the gun posting it here. Maybe they got cold feet. Maybe they were advised to shut up, I don't know.
With all due respect, Sir, it seems you have been used.
I would like to have a version of the pic without Andy's face in it, albeit he is incognito, but still, I do not want to send his pic to these places for a few reasons. Someone may know him or he might get his Undies in a wad and threaten us...LOL
That's it--speed_addiction was used, pure and simple.
As we all have been, at one time or another.
But because speed_addiction was taken--as we all have been, at one time or another--well, this seems not worth worrying about; he reported what he was told, and that was that.
Rather than worrying about speed_addiction, we should be more worried about confirming or disproving what he had been told.....and there is no reason to disbelieve that speed_addiction has NOT reported exactly what he was told.
She was also in the original "Parent Trap," wasn't she?
Oops, did I use a double negative there, making a positive.
Didn't mean to.
excellent post!!!!!!
This may be the most important statement in the most important post I've read in the past four days. Kudos!
All right, if you didn't kill the Easter Bunny...then WHO DID???
People need to get a grip. This is a developing story. We're all just trying to sort out the facts from the B.S. There is no margin in attacking one another and eating our own, like the DUmmies are wont to do. If someone can't be involved in this thread without resorting to childish insults (Liar! Liar! Pants on fire!) then they should seriously consider stepping away from the computer and getting a real life.
I think we all need to brace ourselves for the *possibility* (however small) that this is MUCH ado about not so much.
Excellent, sir; my feelings exactly.
That is why this discreet inquiry into "the Andy Stephenson situation" is a civic duty, a civic obligation.
I have a TON of links (most posted on FR) to go through that supposedly are people/groups that donated money to the Andy cause. That's one of the things I'm working on now. The other thing that REALLY bothers me about this whole situation though, is just how damn HEALTHY Andy looks. I've not seen pics of him prior to having cancer and maybe he has lost weight, but it doesn't look like it right now. I've never known anyone who had ANY type of cancer that didn't lose weight. My cousin's daughter was given steroids AFTER surgery & chemo were over and those made her puffy...it was obvious, especially after seeing her before that it wasn't a "natural" weight gain.

Absolutely. I don't see that anyone is guilty of attacking, except for one person who was chastised aplenty for it already and issued an apology (which IMO should end the matter). In the meantime, questioning Speed or anyone else about their posted statements does not constitute an attack. As you said, it's a developing story.
So what's my vested interest? I have loved ones in danger of being taken in by this scam, and I want to see whatever needs to be exposed come to the light. I also have a very decidedly Miss Marple bent.

Andy called speed and someone from CU. Divide and conquer. Seems this board is now starting to divide and I ask why? We don't know Andy, we don't know the people that donated, nor are we one of them. I know we want to find out what happened, but is there any reason to argue amongst ourselves about this? At the end of the day, the conclusion of this has no bearing on my personal life. I don't care if he's sick, I don't care if he's not sick. I don't care if he's legit, I don't care if he's a scam artist.
Maybe we should let those who may or may not have been scammed get worked up about it. We can sleuth but I see no reason for infighting about it.
My 2 cents
Pardon the double post. The track ball is sometimes not my friend.
Okay, I hear you.
It is so painfully obvious from our perspective that this is nothing but a scam. I like your point about a scam having some element of truth - I agree. This makes a scam easy to perpetuate.
I also like the fact that people have an inability to believe that people are capable of this kind of stuff. This is why scam artists are everywhere and anywhere. Here where I live, a news channel is investigating businesses that provide job placement for the unemployed. The storyline is that nobody ever gets a job, and the placement company takes so much from them in fees.
How many scam artists use old, sick, poor, unemployed, and desperate people? These criminals are capable of anything.
I am glad you read the book.
